The Leon Must Die Forever minigame dropped a few months ago as a bonus addition to Resident Evil Requiem, and while the concept landed well, the early ranks were giving players a rough time. Capcom heard the feedback. Ver. 1.3.1 went live on June 25, 2026, and the bulk of its changes are aimed squarely at smoothing out that minigame experience.
What changed in the minigame
The two biggest quality-of-life shifts here are difficulty reductions across Forever - Rank 1 and Forever - Rank 2. If you've been bouncing off those opening stages, this patch is essentially Capcom lowering the barrier so more players can actually get into the mode's rhythm before things escalate.
Beyond the difficulty curve, three skills received direct buffs:
- Explosives Specialist: The probability that hand grenades won't be consumed on use has been greatly increased. This was arguably the skill most in need of attention, since the old consumption rate made grenade-heavy builds feel punishing to run.
- Throwing+: The attack power boost percentage for hand grenades and other throwable weapons has been increased. Throwing builds just got meaningfully more viable.
- Strategist: Both the skill's duration and its attack power boost percentage have been increased, opening up longer windows to chain combos around it.
The net effect is that enhancer combinations in Leon Must Die Forever now have more room to breathe. The patch notes specifically call out "a wider variety of enhancer combinations" as the goal, which suggests Capcom wants players experimenting rather than defaulting to the same narrow meta.
The rest of the update
Outside Leon Must Die Forever, ver. 1.3.1 addresses some minor issues in the base game, though Capcom hasn't elaborated on specifics beyond that. These kinds of catch-all fixes tend to cover edge-case bugs and stability issues that don't warrant individual callouts.
It's a focused patch rather than a sweeping one, which makes sense given the minigame is still relatively fresh. Capcom is clearly monitoring how players engage with Leon Must Die Forever and making targeted adjustments rather than waiting for a larger content drop to bundle fixes into.
