UK Fans Can Knock Cash Off GTA 6 With This PlayStation Gift Card Deal

A discounted PlayStation Gift Card from ShopTo lets UK players shave money off GTA 6's steep pre-order price, but the deal is locked to UK PSN accounts only.

GTA 6 pre-orders are live, and Rockstar Games has confirmed the prices that players feared: $79.99 for the standard PS5 edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition. For UK fans looking to soften that blow even slightly, there is one practical option on the table right now. Grand Theft Auto 6 is shaping up to be the most expensive console game launch in recent memory, and every bit of savings counts.

Pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI are now open, you can pre-order here.

The ShopTo deal that UK players should know about

ShopTo is currently selling a $90 approximate value PlayStation Gift Card (listed at £70 in the UK) for around £60.85, saving buyers just over £9. The timing is not accidental. With GTA 6 pre-orders opening June 25, anyone planning to buy digitally through the PlayStation Store can load up their wallet at a discount before pulling the trigger on the game itself.

Here's the thing: this is not a jaw-dropping deal. Saving roughly £9 off a £70 card is modest at best. But when you are already staring down a £69.99 or £79.99 price tag for a single game, any reduction is worth taking seriously. The math is simple. Buy the discounted card, use it toward the pre-order, and you are effectively paying closer to £60 for a game that would otherwise cost you £70.

important
This deal requires a UK PlayStation Network account. The ShopTo gift card is region-locked to UK PSN accounts, so US and international players cannot use it to fund their PlayStation Store wallet.

Why US players are left out of this one

The region restriction is the biggest caveat here. US players cannot redeem UK PSN gift cards on their accounts, full stop. That is not a workaround situation, it is a hard platform lock. So while the deal is real and genuinely useful for UK fans, anyone in the States will need to look elsewhere for pre-order savings.

For US players, the options are thinner. The standard edition sits at $79.99 and the GTA 6 Ultimate Edition hits $99.99, with no equivalent discounted PSN card deal currently available in that market. Keeping an eye on retailer promotions or PlayStation Store credit bundles is probably the best bet.

Physical copies will not save you here either

One detail worth flagging: Rockstar confirmed that physical copies of GTA 6 will not contain a disc. They are essentially a download code in a box. So the idea of hunting for a cheaper physical copy at retail to sidestep the digital price is not going to work. You are paying for a code regardless of the format you buy.

That makes the ShopTo gift card approach even more relevant for UK buyers. Since you are going digital either way, loading your PSN wallet with discounted credit is the most direct path to paying less.

What this means for players deciding between editions

The price gap between the standard and Ultimate editions is $20 in the US and likely a similar margin in the UK. The GTA 6 editions breakdown covers exactly what you get for that extra spend, including exclusive weapons, vehicles, and in-game content that is not available in the base game.

For players on the fence about which version to buy, the discounted gift card approach works for either edition. Load the appropriate amount onto your PSN wallet and apply it at checkout. The saving is proportionally the same regardless of which version you go for.

Pre-orders are live now. If you are a UK player planning to go digital, checking discounted PSN credit before completing your purchase is a straightforward way to keep costs down. The full GTA 6 pre-order guide has everything you need to lock in your copy across PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
