WARDOGS Patch 0.11 Overhauls Server Browser After 425K Peak

WARDOGS pulled in over 425,000 peak concurrent players over the weekend, and developer Bulkhead is responding to that surge fast. Patch 0.11 is live today, September 14, deployed during a roughly one-hour maintenance window starting at 1 AM PT / 4 AM ET / 9 AM GMT. The patch is focused almost entirely on fixing the server browser experience, and Bulkhead isn't mincing words about why that fix was overdue.

Bulkhead's honest admission about community servers

The patch notes open with a direct acknowledgment from the studio: community servers have been "underserved," and the server browser has been "poor." Bulkhead says the team "worked through the night" to put together this update, and frames community servers as "the lifeblood of FPS games" like WARDOGS. That's not PR spin. The changes in this patch reflect a studio that genuinely understands what makes a multiplayer FPS stick around long-term.

The key structural change is a new front-end that splits the browser into two distinct sections: official servers and community servers. Filtering has been stripped from the official server tab entirely, since there are no official modified modes yet. Community servers, by contrast, now have improved filtering reliability, text-based search, and a Show Empty/Full toggle on the quick bar. No more scrolling through dead lobbies to find one with space.

Community server IDs also got a meaningful fix. Previously, IDs reset on map change or server restart, which made bookmarking or sharing a specific server basically useless. Those IDs now persist between matches and restarts. The IDs will be longer going forward, which Bulkhead attributes to security requirements, but the trade-off is worth it.

As a goodwill gesture, community servers will offer a 5% end-of-match cash bonus starting next week.

The economy abuse crackdown you should take seriously

Bulkhead also used this patch to lay out its stance on economy exploitation, and the policy is strict.

The studio says it is "very aware" of which servers are being used for XP farming and will permanently ban accounts that join those servers for more than a few minutes. Bulkhead adds that it's open to feedback on this policy, but the baseline is clear: exploits found and abused will be punished hard, not quietly patched and forgotten.

What's still coming for community server hosts

Patch 0.11 is framed as the start of the improvement process, not the finish line. Bulkhead has confirmed the following features are in active development:

  • Community server favoriting
  • Tiered priority queues
  • Message of the Day prompt
  • Improved warmup activities
  • AFK kick disable during server seeding
  • Team switching controls

The studio says these won't delay Season 2 content, and the near-term focus is on quality-of-life fixes driven directly by community feedback.

Server capacity in Asia has also been expanded to meet growing regional demand. Bulkhead specifically called out Asian players and confirmed the region will receive more dedicated support going forward.

Other fixes in the patch include several cash exploit patches and GPU crash resolutions, though the server browser overhaul is clearly the headline.

For players still getting their footing in the game, the WARDOGS beginner tips and tricks guide covers ammo types, armor, and Hot Zone mechanics to help you get up to speed. With the server browser now actually functional, finding a community to play with regularly is a lot more realistic.
