What Are the New Buildables in WARDOGS Season 2?

Season 2 makes almost everything in WARDOGS more expensive to build, and as a builder I don't think any of it really hurts. The costs BULKHEAD changed are build supply costs, and supplies are not the problem in this game. I've seen people dump a dozen or more pallets where there isn't even a FOB, so you're very rarely going to be short of supplies at any point.

What would hurt is time and ammo, so that's what I'd watch. Here's every build cost in BULKHEAD's Season 2 patch notes, the three new buildables, and what I'd put down first on a new FOB.

What Are the New Buildables in WARDOGS Season 2?

Three new buildables, per BULKHEAD's Season 02 patch notes, published on October 14:

  • Wooden Step: "A step. Made of wood." Built with the small hammer and above.
  • Large Shelter: A large metal shelter for covering key assets or keeping the rain off , now that Season 2 has rain. Requires medium hammer and above, costs 250 supplies.
  • MG Nest: A manned M2 Browning emplacement. Large hammer only, 650 supplies.

The only thing that could really hurt a builder there is a buildable needing a bigger hammer. I'll build the MG Nest anyway. I'll build everything.

How Much Does Everything Cost to Build in Season 2?

BULKHEAD says the full pass on build costs, build speed, and durability is aimed at "making structures a considered investment rather than something you spam". These are build supply costs, Season 1 compared to Season 2:

BuildableSeason 1Season 2
Wood Base,15
Bremmer Wall1532
Door2280
Gate85200
Air Raid Shelter / Bunker / Crow's Nest100200
Large Shelter (new),250
L81 Mortar150600
Stingray150650
MG Nest (new),650
Talon 9K-SAM1,000650
Vanguard CIWS1,5001,200
Hot Zone Magnet2,2502,750

Do the Higher Costs Matter?

Not the supply cost. The mortar going from 150 to 600 doesn't really hurt, because supplies are everywhere. Unless it's time, it doesn't matter.

Time is the part that would sting for the bigger items, and the patch notes do slow some building down. The medium hammer now contributes less per swing, and critical spots give a smaller bonus than before. The large hammer's build rate per swing is unchanged.

What Will Hurt Builders Most in Season 2?

Ammo, more than build cost. And the patch notes do go after ammo:

  • Mortar: Restocking from munition supplies goes from 75 to 150, reducing how many shots you get per pallet drop-off. A new firing animation , with the shell dropped into the tube , also slows its fire rate.
  • Talon SAM: Reload goes from 2 to 5 seconds, and restocking from munition supplies goes from 50 to 200.
  • Drill Rigs: BULKHEAD says these changes "severely reduce how long drill rigs can be active for". Minimum fuel to start goes from 1,500 to 2,000, max uptime drops from 375 to 300 seconds, and a destroyed rig can't be replaced straight away.

What Should You Build First on a New FOB?

Walls, and then most likely the anti-air.

Anti-air can affect you directly and immediately, because it sees you in real time. Mortars are more of a pain to deal with, but a mortar is aiming and hoping you're still where it lands. So walls first, then the anti-air. Both the Talon and the CIWS are cheaper to build in Season 2, which makes this priority easier to act on.

Season 2 also lets you place barbed wire and sandbags on top of Bremmer walls, doors and gates can no longer be breached with a hammer, and barbed wire no longer pays cash or XP for kills. For the guns to defend your FOB with, see the best guns in WARDOGS.
