Should BULKHEAD rewipe WARDOGS Season 2? It depends how long they planned the season to last. We're only a couple of days in, so a wipe wouldn't hurt them now , but if they're going to do it, they need to act sooner rather than later. On launch night, 15 October, BULKHEAD admitted it got several things wrong: a bonus for the blue team, Driver progression, and an exploit that let players reach tanks far too early.
I play a lot of WARDOGS, and the faster progression did kill the early game for me. Here's what BULKHEAD changed, what players are saying, and where I land.
What Did BULKHEAD Admit About WARDOGS Season 2?
BULKHEAD admitted it got a few things wrong at the launch of WARDOGS Season 2. The official WARDOGS account posted on X on 15 October: "We're holding our hands up and we got a few things wrong." It listed a backend update that removes the blue team's cash and XP bonus, fixes Driver progression, and fixes a Driver exploit that let lots of players access tanks too early , plus "Limited Mode Servers" coming soon with no power weapons or vehicles.
When a player replied that people had tanks within about an hour, the account answered: "Yep, we dropped the ball here. No excuses."
According to PCGamesN, the exploit involved setting up a FOB close by and making rapid round trips. BULKHEAD handed out 24-hour bans to the players who abused it, which it put at under 1,000 people. The account also said players abusing supply and cold-zone payouts were being temp banned, "and cash/xp reset to 0".
Was Removing the WARDOGS Blue Team Bonus the Right Call?
Yes, definitely. The blue team, Lonestar, received a 5% cash and 2.5% XP bonus for Season 2 as an experiment, because blue had a notoriously lower win rate in Season 1. Per PCGamesN, BULKHEAD's CEO Joe Brammer said the bonus pulled competitive players onto blue, who then won "by far the most", and admitted: "We were wrong, we fucked up."
Especially in Europe, where I'm playing at the moment, the red team seems to be the one that's struggling now.
Is Faster Progression Good for WARDOGS?
Faster progression is a good thing in principle , but it did kill the early game for me. BULKHEAD sped up levelling intentionally. Brammer explained on X that the time it took to reach level 9 in Season 1 now gets you to level 10, and the time it took to reach level 14 now gets you to level 20. Levels 1 to 8 and 20 onwards take the same hours as before, and the design team is tracking the median role level, which was around 10 in Season 1.
The replies weren't happy. Brammer's post drew over 300 replies within a day, and most of the top ones say progression is now too fast, with plenty asking for another wipe.
Can WARDOGS Balance for Players Who Grind?
No , and I don't think any game can. I'm already someone who plays a lot, because gaming is part of my job: most of the time I'm working on two computers at once, so I can be driving in-game and working at the same time. Even I'm not no-life enough to be at the level some players are already at. There are always going to be people who are holed up grinding around the clock, and there's no way to balance for that.
Should WARDOGS Rewipe Season 2?
It depends how long BULKHEAD planned Season 2 to be. We're only a couple of days in, so a wipe wouldn't hurt them now. But if they are going to wipe, they need to do it sooner rather than later.
BULKHEAD hasn't announced a rewipe. So far its answer has been the exploit fix, the temp bans, and the cash and XP resets for abusers.
