About Wild Forest

Wild Forest is a free-to-play, web3-enabled real-time strategy game that draws inspiration from classics like Warcraft and Starcraft. Running on the Ronin blockchain, the game tasks players with starting from a small base, expanding territory, gathering resources, and building troops to crush opponents. Developer Zillion Whales recently rolled out a feature called Forge, which let players convert their old beta assets into a resource called Essence.

Players then used this resource to buy new items in the Forge Shop, which opened shortly after the official game launch. Since its soft launch in November 2023, Wild Forest has steadily added new features. The game released its first NFTs on the Ronin blockchain in February 2024.

Revamped Whitepaper

The latest whitepaper lays out several new systems and mechanics designed to deepen the Wild Forest experience. Major additions include the seasonal leaderboard system, a revamped Battle Pass, a Castle Leasing feature, Lord Staking bonuses, and an overhaul of Perks. New Units will include rarity and level enhancements, and players can dive into the new Expeditions game mode. The updated whitepaper doesn't yet include a complete overview of tokenomics, though more details are expected soon, along with information on a new Token Share program and staking options.

Introducing New Game Mode

The upcoming Expeditions mode brings an idle gameplay experience set to launch in Q4 2024. In this mode, players send Units on high-risk missions to earn valuable resources needed for crafting exclusive in-game items. This feature aims to tie directly into Wild Forest's core PvP mechanics by integrating items and resources that boost the main gameplay.

Expeditions carry varying levels of risk, as deployed Units can be permanently lost during missions. Units with higher ranks have better odds of returning successfully, and their survival directly affects the rewards earned from the missions. Each mission takes time to complete, during which the Units involved can't be used elsewhere.

The first version of Expeditions will offer basic missions, with a risk/reward balance and standard resource rewards. Future updates plan to add more complexity, including diverse mission types and difficulty levels, along with Unit specialization mechanics that will be critical for mission success.

In-Game $WF Token Utility

With the revised Unit Mint system, Wild Forest players can now convert their in-game Units into NFTs by paying a minting fee in $WF tokens. This minting process includes a daily soft cap that helps control inflation, causing minting fees to rise as daily demand increases, with a reset every day. Players can also earn Free Mint Tokens through various in-game activities, letting them mint assets at no cost.

The update expands the utility of the $WF token, enhancing its function both on-chain and off-chain. Beyond minting, $WF can be used to rank up Units, purchase the Premium Battle Pass, and participate in the upcoming Token Share program.

The Token Share program works as a referral system that rewards players based on token spending by their referrals. Referrers receive a portion of the spent tokens, while unallocated tokens are added to a Token Share Pool. Players who stake $WF tokens then get access to a share of this pool, incentivizing both community growth and staking within the Wild Forest ecosystem.
