Anime Expeditions Fish Index: All Fish Locations

Anime Expeditions added a full fishing system with its Tidal Siege event, and it's not just a side distraction. Catching fish earns Fishing XP, contributes to milestone progression, and ties directly into completing the Tidal Siege event itself. There are 18 fish spread across five maps, each with a rarity tier that determines how much XP it hands out per catch. Knowing where each fish spawns before you pick up your rod saves a lot of aimless casting.

All Fish in Anime Expeditions

The five maps that contain fishing spots are Lobby, Tidal Siege, School Grounds, Flower Forest, and East Town. Every fish below is catchable during the Tidal Siege event. Rarity runs from Common at the bottom to Legendary at the top.

tip
The Lobby and Tidal Siege maps together contain the only Legendary fish, the only two Epic fish outside of Flower Forest and East Town, and a dense cluster of Rare options. If you're grinding Fishing XP, those two zones are where you want to be.

What is the rarest fish in Anime Expeditions?

Coopfin holds the only Legendary rarity slot in the entire index. It spawns in both the Lobby and Tidal Siege maps, which gives you two pools to try your luck. The Legendary tag makes it the hardest catch in the game and the single highest XP reward per catch available right now.

The three Epic fish sitting one tier below Coopfin are Shellphone Snail (Lobby/Tidal Siege), Rainbow Fish (Flower Forest), and Sword Fish (East Town). These are the next-best targets for players pushing Fishing XP quickly. After testing all three Epic fish against grinding Common catches, the XP gap between rarity tiers is large enough that chasing Epics consistently outpaces farming Common fish even accounting for lower catch frequency.

Where should you fish for the best XP?

The Lobby and Tidal Siege zones are the clear answer. Between the two maps you get access to Coopfin (Legendary), Shellphone Snail (Epic), plus Fusion Fish, Mirror Fish, Booster Fish, and Prize Fish at Rare and Uncommon. That's the highest concentration of high-rarity catches anywhere in the game.

Flower Forest and East Town each contribute one Epic fish. They're worth visiting if you want to fill out the full index, but neither map matches the rarity density of the Lobby and Tidal Siege pairing.

School Grounds tops out at Rare with Tropical Fish. Fine for early sessions, but not worth prioritizing once you can reliably fish in the Tidal Siege zone.

warning
Hopping between all five maps looking for specific fish burns time without meaningfully increasing your catch rate. Staying in one high-rarity zone and casting consistently builds XP faster than map-switching.

How does fishing work in Anime Expeditions?

The mechanic is straightforward once you know the steps:

  1. Click the Fishing Rod icon in the bottom-left of the screen to equip your rod.
  2. Walk to any fishing pool in the Lobby or one of the event maps.
  3. Left-click to cast.
  4. Wait for a fish to bite and the mini-game to appear.
  5. Click to move the blue bar and keep it aligned over the fish icon.
  6. Hold alignment until the white progress bar fills completely.
  7. A successful fill completes the catch.

The mini-game difficulty scales with the fish you're chasing. Higher-rarity fish are harder to land, which is where better rods make a real difference.

What fishing rods are available, and which is best?

Five rods exist in the current Tidal Siege event, each with distinct stats and unlock conditions.

The Auto Rod is the most valuable for pure Fishing XP grinding because it removes the mini-game and lets you cast faster. Getting it requires hitting Wave 150 in Tidal Siege, which takes some effort, but the payoff is worth it for anyone serious about completing the fish index. The Lucky Rod is a 1% drop that can show up at any time, so keep an eye on your catch notifications.

What rewards does fishing unlock?

Every cast contributes to multiple progression tracks at once:

  • Fish — primary collectibles for the index, each with a rarity tier
  • Sand Dollars — the event currency spent in the Summer Shop on rerolls, locks, Equipment, and Summer Capsules
  • Fishing XP — advances your Fishing level, a separate track from your main account level
  • Milestone XP — feeds into 25 milestone tiers with escalating rewards

The 25 milestone rewards include Gems (up to 550 total across all tiers), Trait Crystals, Equipment Rerolls, Equipment Locks, Stat Rerolls, the Sunshine Unit Indicator Color at milestone 10, the Tidal Siege Banner at milestone 15, and a Flamingo emote at milestone 25. The Gems and Trait Crystals alone make fishing a serious progression tool, not just a collection mechanic.

For more on what to spend those Gems on, check out the Anime Expeditions maps and rewards guide to see which maps drop the equipment worth chasing.

Tidal Siege event quests tied to fishing

Nine quests run alongside the fishing mechanic during the Tidal Siege event. Completing them advances event progress beyond what passive fishing alone provides.

The Wave 150 quest doubles as the unlock condition for the Auto Rod, so pushing waves and fishing simultaneously is the most efficient route through the event.

tip
The Lucky Rod has a 1% drop chance on any catch, so you might land it early while grinding Common fish in the Lobby. Don't skip the Normal Rod phase entirely — it can reward you with the best passive in the game before you even reach Wave 150.

If you play other fishing games on Roblox, the companion and bestiary systems in dedicated fishing titles go much deeper. The Fisch Drylands Bestiary guide covering all 24 fish locations is a good reference for how far those systems can go.
