Woo (Shadow) is the second-best DPS in the game. His Shadow Soldier mechanic scales hard into Infinite Mode and extended fights. He's a Banner Secret with a 20,000 summon pity, so plan your pulls accordingly.
Madora (Gunbai) brings consistent burn damage and meteor attacks that make him one of the best boss killers available. He's unlocked through Ninja Village Squadron Act 4, which gives you a clear progression target to aim for. Strong from mid-game all the way through endgame.

S tier: strong from start to finish
Rizzuto (Sage) is a reliable DPS that holds up across most content. He doesn't hit the ceiling that SS units do, but he's a solid placeholder and a genuine contributor on mid-game teams.
Vegata (SSJ Full Power) has a cheap, effective ultimate and decent damage output. His main value is being a required component in the Gometa evolution quest, so you're investing in him regardless. The Full Power EVO is worth getting for his own combat contribution too.
Goki (SSJ4 Full Power) is similar: strong DPS in his own right, but his real purpose is serving as an EVO component for Gometa. Worth maxing out even after you've moved past him.
Shinks is the best support unit currently available. His damage reduction aura and dodge support can meaningfully change how long your team survives on hard stages. Put him in almost every serious composition.
Fastwagon is the only dedicated money unit in the game and practically mandatory for progression. Extra income lets you deploy expensive units faster, which accelerates every run. Max him out first when building a farming team.
A tier: specialists worth building
Karashi (Sharingan) is the fastest mythic in the game, which makes him excellent for clearing weaker stages quickly and farming resources. His DPS falls behind the top tier eventually, but his speed keeps him useful as a filler even in late-game teams.
Shield Hero is the best dedicated tank before you have Gometa. His damage redirection abilities become more valuable as stage difficulty increases. He's a Battle Pass unit, so check your current pass before spending elsewhere.

B and C tier: early-game workhorses
Big Beard is a decent hybrid: better DPS than anything in C tier, and a genuinely good tank outside of endgame. Shield Hero tanks more reliably, but Big Beard deals more damage, so he's a reasonable choice when you don't have both.
Mamosa offers healing support that helps newer players survive early stages. Her impact drops off sharply once incoming damage scales beyond what her heals can offset.
In C tier, Choi and Tranks are the best starting options for early DPS. Zaro fills slots when you have nothing better. All three get replaced as soon as stronger units come online.
D tier: starter units only

What's the best trait in Anime Squadron?
Superior is the strongest trait by a significant margin. It grants +200% DMG, +300% HP, +30% RNG, -15% CD, and +1 Spawn Cap. That last bonus, an extra placement slot, is what separates it from everything else. The combination of massive stat gains and an additional unit on the field makes it the clear SS pick.
Cloner is the second-best option. It grants +40% DMG, +60% HP, and deploys 2 units instead of 1. Doubling a top-tier DPS like Gometa or Woo often provides more total value than stacking raw stat bonuses.
Entrepreneur (S tier) cuts cost by 40% while adding +30% DMG and +30% HP. The cost reduction is the headline: it lets expensive units hit the field earlier, which matters most in Infinite Mode and time-sensitive raids.
Rebirth (S tier) grants +35% DMG, +50% HP, +20% RNG, and a one-time respawn at 50% HP. The extra life is especially valuable on hard stages where losing a key unit mid-run ends the attempt.
