Clover Time has three chest tiers, and knowing which ones to chase, and which bosses to farm for them, cuts the grind down significantly. The Normal Chest, Medium Chest, and Big Chest each carry a distinct loot pool ranging from basic crafting materials to ultra-rare gamepasses and a pet with a drop chance so low it borders on mythical. Here's everything you need to know about all three, pulled from current beta data in Roblox.
Chests in Clover Time sit on a three-tier rarity scale. Normal Chests are Epic rarity and come from early-game bosses. Medium Chests are Legendary rarity and start appearing from mid-game bosses onward. Big Chests are Mythic rarity and only drop from the three strongest bosses in the game. Each tier feeds into the next through a pity system, so even grinding the lowest tier eventually pays out something better.
There are also inventory caps to keep in mind. You can hold a maximum of 50 Normal Chests, 25 Medium Chests, and 10 Big Chests at once, so plan your farming sessions around those limits.
Clover Time Guide: All Chests Drops & How to Get Them
Five bosses drop Normal Chests, all at the same 9.5% rate: Salik, Earth Bandit, Mana Wolf, Zora, and Fire Mage. The Chain Bandit Boss is the easiest of these to farm repeatedly, making it the go-to for players building up stock early.
Two free methods also exist outside boss farming. When you first join the game, the tutorial hands you a small batch of Normal Chests to get started. Every day, pressing Esc to exit triggers a pop-up offering you a chest to stay, but you can claim it and still leave without penalty.
If you want to skip the grind entirely, Normal Chests are available for purchase with Robux through the in-game DEV product store.

Medium Chests drop from five bosses, but the rates split into two groups. Mana Wolf, Zora, and Fire Mage each carry a 9.5% drop chance for Medium Chests, while Heart Grice and Magna Swing drop them at 3.45%. If you're specifically farming for Medium Chests, Mana Wolf is the easiest of the higher-rate bosses to clear.
The pity route from Normal Chests also feeds into Medium Chests at a 0.56% direct drop chance per Normal Chest opened, on top of the 50-chest pity guarantee.

Pity: Every 25 Medium Chests opened guarantees 1 Big Chest.
Only three bosses drop Big Chests: Fire Mage, Heart Grice, and Magna Swing, each at 0.75%. That's a low rate, but Fire Mage is worth noting specifically because it's the only boss in the game that can drop all three chest types, making it the most efficient single target for any chest farming session.
Big Chests also drop from Medium Chests at 0.63%, and the 25-Medium-Chest pity guarantees one. There's also a Big Chest Gamepass if you want a direct supply.

Fire Mage is the standout pick if you're after Big Chests specifically, but it also drops Normal and Medium Chests, so every kill has a chance to contribute across all three tiers.
