The Halibut Harpoon Mastery is one of the toughest questlines in Roblox Fisch, and the reason most players get stuck is simple: every objective is hidden behind a riddle instead of a plain instruction. Added in Version 2.04 during the Second Anniversary update, the four quests range from catching specific mutations to surviving a 25-fish gauntlet with no Companions or Gloves. The payoff is substantial: permanent rod passives, cosmetic rewards including the Flak Krakenling skin, and a meaningful upgrade to how the Halibut Harpoon functions.
What do you need before starting Halibut Harpoon Mastery?
You must already own the Halibut Harpoon, which comes from completing Dr. Monty's questline at Monty's Lab. Without it equipped in rod mode (not Harpoon Mode), none of your catches will register progress. That last point trips up a lot of players: make sure you are fishing with the Halibut Harpoon in standard rod mode throughout the entire questline, or you will need to redo sections.

How to complete each mastery riddle
Quest 1: 500 Suggestions
The riddle reads "I'm blue on special occasions," which points directly at the Fisch 2nd Anniversary Event. You need to catch 5 Anniversary Event fish that carry the Hadal, Thalassic, or Bathyal Mutation. There are no restrictions on which specific Anniversary fish count, so target whichever ones are easiest to reach with your current setup.
Completing this quest rewards Limited and Special bait Enhancement for the Halibut Harpoon, plus your first Terminus Fragment.
Quest 2: These are Pufferfish
The riddle hints that the rod itself determines the requirement, which means you are catching fish that share the rod's name: Halibut. Specifically, you need all three halibut variants, each caught with the Hadal Mutation. Harpoon Mode does not count here; standard rod mode only.
| Fish (Rarity) | Location | Bait | Timing | Season | Weather |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Halibut (Rare) | The Ocean / Deep Ocean | Squid | Any | Spring, Summer | Rain |
| Greenland Halibut (Rare) | Boreal Pines | Worm | Any | Winter | Any |
| Hoarfrost Halibut (Legendary) | Challenger's Deep | Fish Head | Day | Winter | Clear |
The Hoarfrost Halibut is the bottleneck here. It only spawns at Challenger's Deep during Winter, in Clear weather, during the day. If you are grinding this outside the right season, you will be waiting. Plan around the in-game calendar.
Rewards: Dreaming Pufferfish Super Halo, the "Hedgehog" Title, and Terminus Fragment x1.

Quest 3: They Fly Now
The riddle says "Bring the depths to those that fly the highest," which is a direct reference to catching a deep-water creature in an airborne zone. The target is a Wyvern, and it needs the Hadal Mutation to count.
| Fish (Rarity) | Location | Bait | Timing | Season | Weather |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Wyvern (Exotic) | Above The Clouds | Truffle Worm, Starlight Worm | Any | Any | Rain |
The Wyvern is Exotic rarity and can be stubborn to land. Putting the Long Enchant on your Halibut Harpoon before attempting this one is worth the effort: it boosts your Resilience, Line Distance, and Progress Speed, all of which help against a fish that fights hard.
Rewards: Puffish Balloon x1 and Terminus Fragment x1.

Quest 4: Terminus
This is the final and hardest quest. After collecting all 3 Terminus Fragments from the previous quests, combine them to create the Terminus Item. Use that item to enter the Terminus mini-game, where you must catch 25 Hunt Fish in a fixed order with no Companions or Gloves equipped.
The order is strict. Here is the full sequence:
- Frostwyrm
- Livyatan
- Scylla
- Plesiosaur
- Colossal Ethereal Dragon
- Ancient Goldwraith
- Bloop Fish
- Wyvern
- Ancestral Pliosaur
- Elder Mossjaw
- Awakened Omnithal
- Profane Leviathan
- Colossus Reef Titan
- Ancient Kraken
- Skeletal Leviathan
- Ancestral Abaia
- Veiled Charybdis
- Photic Terrosunder
- Tidecrasher Archon
- Helios Sunray
- Kerauno Wyrm
- Legionnaire Lamprey
- Styx Angler
- Skolopendra
- Olympian Devil
Completing the Terminus challenge rewards the Terminus Lantern and unlocks the Terminus Enhancement for the Halibut Harpoon.
What are the Halibut Harpoon Mastery passives?
Finishing all four quests upgrades the rod with permanent passives. Here is what changes:
- The base +20% Fish Weight becomes a 50% chance for +25% Fish Weight or a 50% chance for +35% Fish Weight
- Harpoons that land outside the bar now grant 30% of their original progress instead of nothing
- The initial harpoon delay on Progress Locked fish drops from 2 seconds to 1.5 seconds
- +40% chance for Bait Preservation, up from the default 10-second timer
- Bait rarity passives now apply in Harpoon Mode
The weight boost change is the standout passive. You trade a guaranteed flat bonus for a coin-flip between two higher values, which pays off over time if you are fishing for weight-dependent records or bestiary entries.
