The Pacific Shovel is one of the strongest digging tools in Prehistoric Farm on Roblox, sitting just below the Forgotten Shovel in the tier rankings. With a 1.60x Fossil Luck multiplier, a 1.45x coin bonus per dig, and a 1.2x speed increase over the Titanium Shovel, it transforms how fast you can tear through fossil sites. Getting it takes real effort: a Level 30 requirement, a two-part NPC questline, and 350,000 Coins at the end. This guide walks you through every step.
What are the requirements for the Pacific Shovel?
Before you touch either questline, confirm you meet all three prerequisites. Skipping this check will waste time.
| Requirement | Detail |
|---|---|
| Player Level | 30 or higher |
| Shovel | Titanium Shovel (required to dig Panthalassa rocks) |
| Coins | 350,000 (final purchase price from Yara) |
The Titanium Shovel is not optional here. You need it to dig in Panthalassa, and Yara's first quest requires Sea Eggs that only come from Panthalassa shards. If you still need the Titanium Shovel, grab it from the Shovel Shop on Home Island for 20x Desert Topaz, 20x Jungle Emerald, and 200,000 Coins. Desert Topaz drops from Triassic Island rocks, and Jungle Emerald comes from Jurassic Island rocks.

How to get to Panthalassa
Panthalassa is an underwater zone accessible only through a Whirlpool located behind Devonian Island. You cannot enter it freely. First, you must complete three tasks for Kai the Tidekeeper, an NPC stationed on the right side of Devonian Island.
Kai the Tidekeeper's three tasks
- Find a Mosasaurus Skull: After accepting this task, a pointer appears on your screen. Follow it to Cretaceous Island, pick up the Mosasaurus Skull, and return it to Kai.
- Catch 50 fish: Any fishing rod and bait work. Species and rarity do not matter, but shoes and bottles do not count toward the total.
- Get 3 Dunkleosteus Eggs: Dig Devonian Island rocks with a Silver Shovel or better until you collect 12 Dunkleosteus Shards. Take those shards to Home Island to convert them into 3 Dunkleosteus Eggs at Dr. Ivy's DNA Lab. Do not hatch the eggs. Kai needs all three.
Once all three tasks are finished, speak to Kai again. He will grant you access to the Whirlpool. Jump in to enter Panthalassa.

How to complete Yara's questline in Panthalassa
When you arrive in Panthalassa, head to the right side of the zone. You will find Yara running a small shop called Yara's Shellsmithy. Talk to Yara to start the questline. There are two tasks.
Yara's quest 1: Get 3 Sea Eggs
Collect shards from Panthalassa rocks using your Titanium Shovel, then take them to Dr. Ivy at Home Island to convert them into Sea Eggs. Any type of Sea Egg qualifies. You need three total.
Again, do not hatch them. Yara takes unhatched eggs.
Yara's quest 2: Get 1 Nessie Fragment
The Nessie Fragment spawns in Panthalassa on a 15-minute cycle and stays visible on the map for only 5 minutes per spawn. Keep an eye on the timer and be ready to grab it quickly. If you miss the window, wait for the next cycle.
Alternatively, certain active Prehistoric Farm codes can reward a Nessie Fragment directly, which skips the spawn-waiting entirely.
Buying the Pacific Shovel
After completing both of Yara's quests, talk to Yara one final time. The Pacific Shovel becomes available to purchase for 350,000 Coins.
Make sure you have the full amount before completing the second quest. Running short on coins at this stage means returning to the surface to grind more, which delays your reward.
How good is the Pacific Shovel?
The Pacific Shovel is currently the second-best shovel in Prehistoric Farm, behind only the Forgotten Shovel. Here is how it stacks up against the Titanium Shovel you needed to get here:
| Stat | Titanium Shovel | Pacific Shovel |
|---|---|---|
| Fossil Luck | 1.40x | 1.60x |
| Coin Multiplier | 1.30x | 1.45x |
| Dig Speed | Baseline | 1.2x faster |
| Supported Periods | All up to Cretaceous | All except Late Cretaceous |
The jump from 1.40x to 1.60x Fossil Luck is meaningful at late-game dig sites where rare fossils determine how fast you can complete sets and hatch creatures. The speed increase also compounds over long grinding sessions.
Tips for grinding the 350,000 coins faster
- Prioritize completing full fossil sets rather than selling individual pieces. Complete sets converted at Dr. Ivy's Lab generate more value per run.
- Keep your hatched dinosaurs fed. A dinosaur with a Belly meter below half does not grow, which stalls your ranch progression and indirectly limits your earning potential.
- Fishing doubles as a coin source and a feeding resource. Meat-eating dinosaurs accept player-caught fish, so time spent fishing serves two purposes.
- Sell surplus fossil pieces only after confirming you have already secured a complete set for conversion.
