Sound Breathing sits behind one of the trickier trainer hunts in Roblox Slayers 2. Tengai is not the Sound Hashira world boss you might stumble across in Iceveil Valley. He's a separate trainer perched on a high ledge that requires a cold-damage sprint, a swim, and a Wall Climb to reach. Get your materials sorted before you make the trip, because the snowy route punishes underprepared players who have to run it twice.
What do you need before unlocking Sound Breathing?
Four requirements gate the Sound Breathing unlock. All four must be met before Tengai will start the training questline, so gather everything at home before heading into the cold.
| Requirement | Amount |
|---|---|
| Slayer Level | 25 |
| Wen | 4,000 |
| Demon Horns | 10 |
| Beast Cores | 3 |
For Demon Horns, the Hoyuzo Subordinates in the Bamboo Grove waterfall cave are the most accessible early farm. The Hoyuzo Boss has a 50% chance to drop 3 Demon Horns at once, which speeds things up significantly if you can handle it. Beast Cores drop from Beast Born Demons around Mistfall Harbour and Mistfall Village at night, with roughly a 50% drop rate per kill. Neither drop is guaranteed per kill, so budget extra time for both farms.
Where is Sound Trainer Tengai in Iceveil Valley?
Start from the Mother Bear area and follow the route toward Windy Peak. From there, push through the gate into Iceveil Valley. The moment you cross into the snowy region, cold damage starts draining your HP passively. Campfires along the path restore health, so stop at each one rather than sprinting past them.
If you have an Everburn Lantern, charge it at a campfire before entering. One charge gives up to 10 minutes of cold immunity, which removes the health drain entirely for that stretch.
Keep your Sound objective marker active and follow it toward the Sound Trainee and world boss area. Once you reach that zone, go past the Sound Trainee, drop off the ledge into the water below, and swim across to the opposite cliff wall. Use Wall Climb to scale the cliff face and reach the upper platform. Tengai is waiting at the top.

Slayers 2 Guide: How to Unlock Sound Breathing Style
How to complete all 6 Sound Breathing training tasks
Once Tengai accepts your materials and level check, the training tracker opens. Six tasks stand between you and Sound Breathing: Push Ups, Barbell Squats, Boulder Split, Cup Training, Underwater Rocks, and the Sound Trainee fight. The first five are minigames. The sixth is a boss fight.
Push Ups
Head to the marked training mat and respond to the on-screen button prompts as they appear. Timing matters here. Mashing inputs ahead of the prompt loses progress, so wait for each indicator before pressing. The tracker advances to Barbell Squats once you finish the full sequence.
Barbell Squats
At the squat station, a bar moves vertically on a meter. Keep your input aligned with the green zone as it moves. Drifting outside the green section pauses progress, so stay focused on the meter rather than the character animation. The task completes when the progress bar fills.
Boulder Split
Follow the marker to the rope-wrapped boulder near the Windy Peak training area. Complete the on-screen circular prompts in sequence. Wait for the final split animation and the tracker confirmation before moving on.
Cup Training
Three cups, one hidden ball. Watch the ball's starting position, track it through the shuffle, and select the correct cup when the movement stops. You need 10 correct selections to finish the task. Three wrong guesses end the attempt, so stay focused on the ball rather than the cup positions after the shuffle begins.
Underwater Rocks
Swim to the marked water area and collect 5 glowing blue rocks scattered across the lake floor. Your oxygen meter depletes while submerged, so surface for air between pickups when the meter runs low. Confirm the Sound tracker reads 5/5 before leaving the water. Leaving early resets the count.
How to defeat the Sound Trainee?
After the Underwater Rocks task clears, follow the marker to the Sound Trainee near the snowy Iceveil Settlement. This is a proper boss fight, not a sparring session. Cold damage is still active during the fight, so arriving with full HP and healing items is the difference between a clean kill and a respawn run.
The Sound Trainee has readable attack patterns. Wait for openings between attack strings rather than trading hits. Taking unnecessary damage while cold is draining your health simultaneously makes the fight much harder than it needs to be. Once the Sound Trainee is defeated, Sound Breathing unlocks immediately.
How do you spend Skill Points on Sound Breathing forms?
Unlocking the style does not automatically give you its moves. Press M, open the Skill Tree, and navigate to the Sound branch. Spend your available Skill Points there to purchase individual Sound Breathing forms. The branch becomes visible only after the Sound Trainee is defeated, so the tab will not appear before that point.
Troubleshooting: what if the route isn't starting?
If Tengai won't begin the questline, run through this checklist in order:
- Confirm your Slayer level is exactly 25 or higher.
- Check that you have all 4,000 Wen, 10 Demon Horns, and 3 Beast Cores in your inventory.
- Verify Wall Climb is unlocked before attempting the cliff route.
- If you're stuck on a training task, stay at the station until the tracker visibly advances. Leaving early before the animation completes is the most common reason tasks fail to register.
- For Underwater Rocks specifically, wait until the counter shows 5/5 before swimming to the surface.
Sound Breathing is one of several styles with a structured unlock path in Slayers 2. For a broader look at how it compares to other options, the Slayers 2 breathing styles tier list breaks down every style from S to C tier with PvP and PvE context. If you want to knock out another style alongside this one, the guides for Thunder Breathing and Flame Breathing follow the same level 25 structure and are worth queuing up next.
