Shift At Midnight Turns A Routine Night Shift Into A Fight For Game Pass Survival | TheXboxHub

Shift At Midnight is a horror co-op adventure where the scares come from both the monsters hunting you and the moral weight of the choices you make before the credits roll. There are 10 achievements total, and while most unlock through natural play, three of them stay hidden until you reach the game's finale. Knowing what to aim for early saves you from replaying entire shifts just to clean up misses.

How many achievements does Shift At Midnight have?

The game has 10 achievements split into two groups: 7 standard achievements visible from the start, and 3 hidden achievements tied directly to the three possible endings. The standard ones track combat milestones and progression, while the hidden trio hinge on a single financial decision at the end of shift 12.

First Blood

Task: Kill your first customer.

This one unlocks the moment you take out your first customer during a store visit. It doesn't matter whether they turn out to be human or a doppelgänger, the kill counts either way. You'll likely get this within your first shift without trying.

Still Breathing

Task: Survive your first hunt.

The First Knight appears early to give you a preview of what hunts look like. Survive that first encounter without dying, and the achievement pops. Stay mobile, keep your distance, and don't panic.

Freed

Task: Kill a Demented.

Dementeds have a specific behavior pattern that makes them manageable once you understand it. They only move when you're looking away from them. The moment you look directly at one, it freezes. Use your stairs to funnel it toward a bear trap, which kills it automatically. Looking away long enough to bait the path while keeping the trap in its route is the key move here.

tip
Playing in co-op makes the Demented much easier. One player looks at it to freeze it while another positions the bear trap.

Silenced

Task: Kill a Shrieking Doll.

Shrieking Dolls spawn whenever you face the entity. They're not particularly durable, so just shoot one when it appears. This achievement will come naturally during any entity encounter.

Last Performance

Task: Kill a Marionette.

Marionettes always spawn from the musical jack-in-the-boxes. You need to deal damage to them, both to complete this achievement and to avoid taking hits yourself. Any weapon works, so use whatever you have available.

warning
Ignoring a Marionette after it spawns means incoming attacks. Deal with it immediately rather than focusing elsewhere.

Relentless

Task: Finish a hunt in 30 seconds.

This is one of the more satisfying achievements to chase deliberately. You need to complete an entire hunt before the 30-second mark. Co-op makes this significantly easier since multiple players can coordinate to end the hunt fast. If you're playing solo, go into a hunt well-armed and move without hesitation.

Locked and Loaded

Task: Purchase all melee weapons and fill out the weapons arsenal.

This requires buying every weapon available in the game, both ranged and melee, through your in-game computer. It's a progression achievement tied to spending, so prioritize earning money across shifts and spend it all on weapons. There's no shortcut here beyond accumulating funds and buying everything on offer.

tip
Don't spend money on anything else until you've confirmed every weapon is purchased. This achievement is easy to delay by accident.

All hidden achievements: the three endings

These three achievements only unlock based on what happens at the end of shift 12, specifically around a decision involving Clyde and your pet's surgery. All three are mutually exclusive in a single run.

How do you unlock the True Ending achievement?

The True Ending achievement is the hardest of the three to hit on a first run because it requires you to have saved more than $250 in personal funds by the time shift 12 ends, without calling Clyde. That means managing your money across every shift and resisting the temptation to spend freely. If you're aiming for this one specifically, treat your personal fund balance as a secondary objective throughout the entire game.

important
The $250 threshold applies to your personal funds specifically, not your store's total earnings. Track that number separately as you approach shift 12.

What's the fastest way to get all three ending achievements?

Since the three ending achievements are mutually exclusive, you need at least three runs to collect all of them. The most efficient approach is to target Grave Decision first (just call Clyde), then Empty Home on a second run (spend down your funds and skip the call), and finally True Ending on a third run where you manage money carefully from the start.

Achievement completion order: what to prioritize

For players who want to clear the list efficiently, here's how to think about the order:

  • First Blood, Still Breathing, and Silenced unlock automatically through normal play in early shifts.
  • Freed and Last Performance require engaging specific enemy types deliberately, but both enemies appear regularly enough that you won't have to hunt for opportunities.
  • Relentless is worth targeting early in co-op since it requires coordination and gets harder to focus on once you're deep into the shift loop.
  • Locked and Loaded is a long-term goal. Start saving for it immediately and don't divert funds.
  • The three hidden achievements require separate runs, so plan which ending you're targeting before shift 12.

For more strategies across the game, the Shift At Midnight guides collection covers endings, enemy behaviors, and everything else you need to reach 100% completion. If you're new to the horror co-op genre, there's plenty more to explore in indie games with similar mechanics worth your time.
