World of Warcraft Forever launches November 4, 2026 with 9 brand-new dungeons woven directly into the 1-60 leveling journey. These aren't tucked away in a new continent or gated behind expansion content. They're hidden inside places Classic players have walked past for years: beneath Ironforge, behind Dalaran's fallen barrier, on a submerged island off Stranglethorn. If you want to know which dungeon to hit at each level, what faction can access it, and how loot is changing across the entire game, this is the guide.
What are all 9 WoW Forever dungeons?
Blizzard confirmed the full roster at their What's Next panel. Every dungeon slots into the existing 1-60 range rather than replacing any Classic instance. Here's the complete picture at a glance:

Early dungeons: levels 13-33

WoW Forever Dungeon Guide: All Locations, Level Requirements & Loot
Hall of Thanes (levels 13-18)
Hall of Thanes sits beneath Ironforge in the ancient royal burial chambers. Something has broken into the tombs of the Dwarven kings, and players enter to deal with whatever is disturbing the dead. The dungeon is naturally Alliance-oriented given its location, but Horde players can reportedly find their way in. The route for Horde groups hasn't been confirmed yet.
This is the first new dungeon most Alliance players will encounter, appearing at level 13 before they'd normally see anything beyond Ragefire Chasm.
Ruins of Lordaeron (levels 15-20)
Ruins of Lordaeron turns one of Warcraft's most important historical sites into a proper dungeon. The Forsaken are pushing to reclaim sections of the ruined capital while lingering Scourge forces and a necromancer preparing a new threat make that complicated. Horde characters have the natural story hook here; Alliance groups can enter but reportedly face a harder approach.
Think of these two early dungeons as mirror images: Hall of Thanes belongs to the Alliance story, Ruins of Lordaeron to the Horde, but neither is a faction-locked scenario.
Excavation Site (levels 24-29)
Located above Whelgar's Excavation in the Wetlands, this dungeon expands one of Classic's most teased-but-underdelivered locations. Strange lights, drifting mist, malfunctioning Titan constructs, and rogue machinery are all part of the reported premise. Blizzard hasn't given it a more elaborate proper name yet; "Excavation Site" is the working placeholder used across most coverage.
City of Dalaran (levels 28-33)
Dalaran's protective barrier has finally come down. The city has been restored, but the Kirin Tor don't have everything under control. Players enter to deal with unstable enchantments, uncontrolled constructs, arcane chaos, and demonic activity. One important note: Blizzard's presentation describes both a dungeon experience inside Dalaran and a wider city to explore, so the dungeon isn't necessarily the entire city locked behind a single five-player corridor.
For players planning their class before stepping into these instances, the complete WoW Forever class ability and talent change guide breaks down every new ability across all nine classes.
Mid-range dungeons: levels 35-53

The Drowned City (levels 35-40)
The Drowned City is an ancient Troll ruin that has risen from the sea off Stranglethorn Vale's coast. Trolls, Naga, and competing pirates all occupy the area, giving it one of the more distinct enemy mixes among the nine new instances. This was the dungeon playable at BlizzCon 2026, so it's the one with the most real hands-on impressions floating around.
Krol'dok Stronghold (levels 40-55)
Krol'dok Stronghold sits in the new Riverglades zone and is described as a large outdoor Ogre dungeon. The level bracket here is unusually wide at 40-55, much broader than any other new instance. That could mean multiple sections with different enemy levels, a very large outdoor layout, or a design that supports characters across a longer stretch of progression. Blizzard hasn't explained the wide bracket yet, so don't assume it works like Blackrock Depths simply because the level spread looks similar.
The stronghold is also closely tied to the Riverglades zone story, with Ogres conducting suspicious nighttime rituals and raiding nearby settlements.
Alcaz Prison (levels 48-53)
Alcaz Prison on Alcaz Island has been one of Classic WoW's most mysterious locations for years, tied to rumors about Varian Wrynn's captivity. Forever turns it into a full dungeon. The Defias Brotherhood and Naga are both confirmed as factions inside the prison, creating a conflict that goes beyond a simple undead-clearing run. At levels 48-53, gear from this dungeon sits close enough to the endgame that good drops could carry you toward 60.
High-level dungeons: levels 55-60

WoW Forever Dungeon Guide: All Locations, Level Requirements & Loot
Blackmaw Hold (levels 55-60)
Blackmaw Hold is a great Furbolg city hidden behind the furbolg gates in northern Azshara. Something is corrupting the inhabitants, and players enter through underground passages to find out what. There's also a confirmed geographical connection to tunnels leading toward Barrow Deeps, Forever's 10-player maximum-level raid. That makes Blackmaw Hold worth running even after you hit 60, both for gear and for contextual story leading into the raid.
Shaper's Terrace (levels 58-60)
Shaper's Terrace in Un'Goro Crater is the highest-starting new dungeon, kicking off at level 58. Ancient Titan machinery, power crystals, and uncontrolled wildlife fill the facility. Un'Goro has always had obvious Titan influence scattered across it; this dungeon finally lets you go inside the source. At 58-60, its loot will be among the most scrutinized for pre-raid gearing once item tables go public.
What gaps exist in the new dungeon coverage?
The nine new dungeons cover most of the 1-60 climb, but a few level windows have no new option:
- Levels 21-23: No new dungeon. Returning options include Wailing Caverns, The Deadmines, and Shadowfang Keep.
- Level 34: No new dungeon. Scarlet Monastery, Gnomeregan, and Razorfen Kraul are your returning choices.
- Levels 46-47: No new dungeon. Razorfen Downs, Uldaman, and Zul'Farrak fill this window.
- Level 54: No new dungeon. Zul'Farrak, Maraudon, and Sunken Temple are the options here.
These gaps aren't a problem in practice because 19 returning dungeons remain part of the pool. The new nine expand your choices rather than replace the old content.
How is dungeon loot changing in WoW Forever?
This is where Forever makes a bigger departure from Classic than the dungeon count alone suggests. Blizzard has overhauled the entire dungeon itemization system, not just the nine new instances.
Key confirmed loot changes:
- Every dungeon drop across the game has been re-examined, including all returning Classic dungeons
- Hundreds of new drops have been added
- Unique boss drops are being upgraded to blue quality across the board
- Dungeon set bonuses have been reworked to feel more useful
- Caster weapons now carry meaningful Spell Damage and Healing stats, making weapon upgrades actually matter for Mages, Priests, Warlocks, and healing specs
- Spell, melee, and ranged Hit have been unified into a single Hit stat, helping hybrid classes like Enhancement Shaman and Retribution Paladin get more value from single gear pieces
Can dungeon bosses drop profession recipes?
Yes. Forever's profession system includes advanced Blueprint recipes that drop from specific dungeon bosses. These unlock advanced crafting functionality, including more sophisticated Camping objects. The complete boss-to-Blueprint map hasn't been published yet, but it means a dungeon boss can stay worth farming even after you no longer need its gear drops.
What are the WoW Forever raids?
Forever launches with two confirmed raids and a third that's been rumored but not officially announced:
All raids unlock on December 9, 2026, roughly five weeks after the game launches on November 4. That window gives you time to hit 60, run the high-level dungeons, and build a pre-raid gear set before the first lockouts open.
What's still unconfirmed before beta?
The beta opens today, September 17, 2026, which means a lot of these gaps should start closing quickly. Until verified data comes through, the following remain unknown:
- Complete boss rosters and abilities for all 9 dungeons
- Minimum entrance level requirements
- Full loot tables and item stats
- Which bosses drop which profession Blueprints
- Dungeon maps and full route layouts
- Faction-specific quest differences
- Dungeon lockout rules
