Yoshi and the Mysterious Book Guide: All Smiley Flower Locations

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book hides 260 Smiley Flowers across its habitats, and finding every last one takes real effort. The game tracks your progress through the book itself, showing you exactly how many remain in each level, but it won't tell you where they are or how to reach them. That's what this guide is for. Whether you're filling in the last few gaps before the credits or starting a full collection run from scratch, every habitat is covered below by chapter.

How many Smiley Flowers are there in total?

There are exactly 260 Smiley Flowers in the game. Of those, 146 appear during the main story campaign spanning Chapters 1 through 6. The remaining 114 become available only after you finish the base game and enter the post-game content. So if your counter stops climbing before 260, you haven't missed anything — you just haven't reached Chapter 7 and 8 territory yet.

Here's a quick breakdown of how the total splits across the game:

What do Smiley Flowers actually do?

During the main campaign, Smiley Flowers sit in your collection without doing much beyond satisfying your completionist instincts. Their real value unlocks once you clear Chapter 6.

Finishing the base story grants access to Exploration Tools, which are screen overlays that help you locate creatures, discoveries, and collectibles more easily. Each tool costs 5 Smiley Flowers to unlock, and they're handed out in a fixed order — you can't cherry-pick which one comes next. The more powerful tools sit further down the unlock chain, so you'll need a solid flower count before the best ones become available.

Collect all 260 and you'll earn the All-Smiley Flowers Badge, a cosmetic badge that functions similarly to Exploration Tools and can be displayed on your screen as you explore.

Like Exploration Tools, this badge can be placed on your screen as a visible marker of completion. It's a cosmetic reward, but for players going for 100%, it's the final stamp of approval the game offers.
