Aion 2 uses Combat Power (CP) as a single number to represent your character's overall combat strength, pulling data from nearly every progression system in the game. That's where most players get confused: CP is not your gear score, and it's definitely not your DPS. Gear score tracks how developed your equipment is. CP measures everything, from your weapon to your Stigma levels to your Pets. Two characters with identical Item Level can have wildly different CP depending on how much they've invested in Skills, Arcana, and Daevanion.
The simplest way to think about it: Item Level answers "how strong is my gear?" while Combat Power answers "how strong is my whole character?"
Here's what actually moves each number:
| System | Raises Item Level | Raises Combat Power |
|---|---|---|
| Gear quality and grade | Yes | Yes |
| Gear Enhancement | Yes | Yes |
| Daevanion | Yes | Yes |
| Active and Passive Skills | No | Yes |
| Stigma Skills | No | Yes |
| Arcana | No | Yes |
| Soul Bindings | Gear-dependent | Yes |
| Manastones | Gear-dependent | Yes |
| Wings, Pets, Titles | No | Yes |
The takeaway: chasing Item Level alone leaves a huge chunk of CP on the table. Players who keep every system moving simultaneously will consistently outpace those who only focus on gear drops.
Every one of these systems contributes to your CP total:
Completionists get rewarded here. Progressing your entire account rather than farming one boss repeatedly is genuinely one of the more efficient long-term CP strategies.

Aion 2 Guide: How to Increase Combat Power Fast
Gear is the most obvious CP source and the right place to start, but there's a trap most players fall into: dumping every upgrade material into every new drop they find. Before level 45, only invest in a piece if your current gear is actively holding you back in content, such as dealing too little damage to clear a dungeon boss. After level 45, find a piece you want to commit to and start upgrading it seriously.
Gear progression layers include:

Weapon upgrades have the biggest visible impact for DPS classes. Defensive pieces matter more for tanks. Getting a good drop is only the start of that item's progression.
For a full breakdown of how Item Level connects to these systems, the Aion 2 Item Level guide covers every gear breakpoint worth hitting.
Skills directly feed into CP, and the progression order matters. You start with Skill Points up to around level 10, then shift into Daevanion until roughly level 14, then Arcana handles targeted Skill bonuses from there. Soul Bindings on gear add another layer of Skill bonuses. Stigmas run on their own track using Stigma Shards.
Don't level Skills your build doesn't use just to pad the CP number. That wastes materials and doesn't improve actual combat performance. Focus on Active Skills that hit important Specialty breakpoints.
For Stigma priority, work in this order:
Stigma Shards can be purchased from the trade shop, nightmare dungeons, and Shugo Festival events. Stigma is consistently one of the highest-return CP investments available, especially if your gear is already solid but your CP feels stuck.
Daevanion Boards are among the most valuable permanent progression systems in the game. Every useful node stays with your character when your gear changes, so Daevanion investment compounds over time. The boards cover offensive, defensive, PvE, PvP, and Skill-related bonuses, giving you options regardless of your class or build focus.
Arcana works almost like additional gear slots. Each card provides combat bonuses, some add levels to Active or Passive Skills, and Set bonuses stack on top. When evaluating Arcana upgrades, check card quality, card level, whether the stats match your class, any Skill bonuses attached, and Set bonus completion. Don't chase Arcana purely for the CP number. Prioritize cards that improve your Skills first.
Once your gear and core Skills are in reasonable shape, reaching the 90K to 100K CP range that endgame dungeons and raids require comes from stacking the smaller systems that most players ignore.
The pet system contributes permanent stat bonuses through Genus collection. Cogni pets are the priority because they provide Might, a strong damage stat. Farm the same mob until the pet reaches level 3 (max), then work toward maxing others over time.
The Genius system (accessed through the analysis menu) can add a significant CP chunk on its own. Spam analysis until you reach level 9 or 10, then start locking the orange stats you need. Prioritize your Special stat first since it's the hardest to roll, then move to Variant and other stats.
Wings provide equipped and owned passive effects. Siege Shop wings offer strong stats including attack accuracy, cooldown reduction, and attack bonus. If you collected Shugo currency during events, Shugo Event wings add penetration, block, and accuracy bonuses. Owning both sets stacks double passive effects.
Titles from achievements, challenge bosses, and world bosses give passive stats like Critical Hit, PvE Defense, and Block Penetration. Kill every world boss at least once.
The Colossal Zal Appreciation Statue is an endgame goal worth prioritizing. Complete Zal stages 10 and earn enough points to purchase it. The stat gains it provides are among the best available at that progression tier.
| System | CP contribution type |
|---|---|
| Wings | Equipped and owned passive stats |
| Pets (Cogni) | Might and Genus collection bonuses |
| Titles | Critical Hit, Defense, Block Penetration |
| Pantheon | Permanent stat progression |
| Amulet and Belt | Separate enhancement bonuses |
| Monolith | Additional permanent bonuses |
| Colossal Zal Statue | Top-tier endgame stats |
Don't dissolve yellow gear you no longer need. Use Substance Morph to convert it into Transfer Crystals, then use the Enhancement Transfer system to move your enhancement level and Soul Bindings to your new piece. This preserves your upgrade investment when you find a better item, which is why farming world bosses for yellow drops matters even when you don't need the item itself.
The fastest CP progression comes from keeping several systems moving at once rather than dumping every resource into one. Here's the priority order that applies to most characters:
The exact order shifts based on what your character is actually missing. If your Skills are several levels behind, fix those before adding another Enhancement level to your weapon. If Daevanion is untouched and your gear is already solid, that's the obvious next investment.
