The Viridian Pot is one of Final Fantasy Resonance's most deceptive encounters. It sits there with 99999 HP, shrugs off every attack for 1 damage, heals itself back to full every single turn, and laughs at every status effect you throw at it. Brute force does nothing. The trick is knowing what it actually wants, and once you do, the fight ends in seconds with a solid MRP payout. Here's everything you need to know about finding and beating the Viridian Pot in FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE.

Why can't you beat the Viridian Pot with normal attacks?

The Viridian Pot is classified as a Fairy-type enemy and is mechanically designed to be unbeatable through conventional combat. Every attack, regardless of element or power, deals exactly 1 damage. On top of that, it restores its full 99999 HP at the end of every turn. Status effects, debuffs, and ailments all bounce off completely. Trying to outlast it or out-damage it is simply not possible.

This is intentional. The Viridian Pot is a puzzle enemy, not a combat challenge, and the game hints at the solution during the fight itself.

How to beat the Viridian Pot

Use a Mist Ether and target the Viridian Pot

The only way to win is to use a Mist Ether and select the Viridian Pot as the target. The battle ends immediately in a victory. The Viridian Pot will even hint at what it wants between rounds, so pay attention to the battle dialogue if you're unsure.

A Mist Ether is more expensive and less common than a standard Ether. It functions like an Ether but restores MP for multiple targets simultaneously. If you don't have one when you stumble into the fight, you can flee without penalty and return once you've stocked up. Mist Ethers are available from shop vendors in towns, though they cost more than a regular Ether, so make sure your Gil reserves are ready.

Where to find the Viridian Pot: all locations

There are two Viridian Pot encounters across the main story.

Viridian Pot location 1: Wind Shrine (Chapter 2)

From the inner Save Point in the Wind Shrine, head downward and then to the right. There's a secondary room in that direction where the Viridian Pot is waiting.

Viridian Pot location 2: Water Shrine (Chapter 3)

In the Water Shrine, head to the second lower level (one floor down from the entrance). Take the room on the left. You may need to interact with nearby crystals to adjust the water levels inside the shrine before certain areas become accessible.

What rewards do you get for beating the Viridian Pot?

Defeating the Viridian Pot awards a large amount of MRP and has a chance to drop an Elixir as a rare item. The MRP payout alone makes both encounters worth seeking out, especially if you switch to Expert difficulty beforehand for the 1.5x multiplier.

How does the Viridian Pot compare to the Citrine Pot?

The Citrine Pot is the Viridian Pot's counterpart and works almost identically, with one key difference: the Citrine Pot wants a standard Ether instead of a Mist Ether. Both enemies share the same defensive profile (1 damage cap, 99999 HP self-heal per turn, full status immunity), and both reward MRP on defeat.

The Mist Ether is the more expensive item of the two, so plan your Gil spending accordingly before heading into either shrine.

Can you rematch the Viridian Pot?

No. After the battle ends in victory, the pot on the ground permanently loses its glow and cannot be interacted with again. There is no way to trigger a second encounter with the same Viridian Pot. This makes the Expert difficulty trick especially worth doing on your first and only attempt.
