The Batcave holds 10 WayneTech Cache Chests, and tracking them all down rewards you with The Dark Knight outfit for Jim Gordon. Each chest contains a WayneTech Chip, the currency you spend at any Workbench to upgrade gadgets and abilities for every character in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. Miss even one and that outfit stays locked, so this guide covers every chest with exact map coordinates and any expansion purchases required before the chest becomes accessible.
How do WayneTech Cache Chests work?
Every WayneTech Cache Chest emits a faint audio cue as you get closer, which helps narrow down the search before you switch on Detective Mode to pinpoint the exact spot. You first encounter the mechanic during the Spelunking mission in the Wayne Industries section of Chapter 1, where Jim Gordon guides you to the tutorial chest. That one is story-locked and cannot be missed.
Once you find a chest, simply approach and interact with it to collect the WayneTech Chip inside. Take those chips to any Workbench and spend them on upgrades for whichever character you want to develop. The Batcave is the one region in the game that does not have Radio Towers to assist with narrowing down locations, but the area is compact enough that the audio cues and Detective Mode are more than sufficient.

Which Batcave chests require expansions?
Four of the 10 chests only appear after you purchase specific Batcave expansions using Studs. The table below lists every chest, its coordinates, and any prerequisite so you know exactly what to buy before going hunting.
Do not spend all your Studs on character unlocks before buying the Batcave expansions. Caches 7 through 10 are completely inaccessible until the relevant expansion is purchased, and the Clean State and Science Lab expansions each cost 100,000 Studs.
All Batcave WayneTech Cache chest locations
Cache 1 (651, 1041) - Spelunking mission
This chest appears automatically during the Spelunking mission. You will find it buried under a pile of rubble, and the game requires you to collect it to advance the story. There is no way to miss it.
Cache 2 (634, 994) - Southeast stairs
Head to the southeast side of the Batcave and locate the stairs near the Workbench. The chest sits underneath those stairs, tucked behind a small pile of rubble on the same platform.
Cache 3 (625, 1032) - Central vehicle platform
Go to the central platform where you select and swap vehicles. Move to the east side of that platform and look underneath the bridge. The chest sits directly below at coordinates 625, 1032.
Cache 4 (597, 1041) - West lower platform
From the central vehicle area, walk toward the cave exit as though heading to Gotham, then look west and down. The chest sits on a lower platform. Use Batman's glide from the ledge above to reach it cleanly.
Cache 5 (596, 1012) - Costume display area
The costume display case in the southwest of the Batcave shows every outfit for every unlocked character. From the entrance to that area, take the door on the right. The chest is against the wall in the far corner.
The costume display case is a good landmark for orienting yourself in the southwest section. If you can see it, Cache 5 is only a short walk away through the right-hand door.
Cache 6 (632, 1041) - Hidden cave section
From the central platform, head east into the lower cave section. You will spot a waterfall marking the entrance to a partially hidden area. Follow the path until you reach a door that can be pried open. Only Robin or Nightwing can open it, so make sure one of them is in your party before making the trip.
Cache 7 (622, 1070) - Display Area expansion
This chest only unlocks after you spend 75,000 Studs on the Display Area expansion, which opens up the north side of the Batcave. Once inside, the chest is on the right side of the new platform.
Cache 8 (641, 1060) - Science Lab expansion
The Science Lab costs 100,000 Studs and sits in the northeast section of the Batcave. After purchasing it, walk straight through the lab and turn right at the back. The chest is there at coordinates 641, 1060.
Cache 9 (641, 1006) - Training Area expansion
The Training Area expansion costs 50,000 Studs and opens a section on the southeast side above the Workbench. The chest is on the right side of that area, sitting behind a row of training dummies.
Cache 10 (577, 1052) - Clean State expansion
The Clean State expansion in the northwest costs 100,000 Studs. After purchasing it, the chest is in the center of the newly accessible platform at coordinates 577, 1052. Collecting this one completes the full set of 10 and unlocks The Dark Knight outfit for Jim Gordon.
