LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight packs 43 Challenges into its open-world Gotham, and completing all of them ties directly into two achievements, a Batcave mural, and a steady flow of Studs. Some are trivial to knock out mid-mission. Others require specific characters, upgraded gadgets, or a bit of creative baiting. This guide covers every challenge, how to unlock the cash-in system, and the fastest routes to the trickier ones.
How do you cash in challenges in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight?
You can complete challenges as early as the Prologue, but the payout system does not open until Chapter 2. Head to the Batcave, move west above the Batmobile garage, and interact with the green computer terminal. Any completed challenge shows up there, and pressing X (PlayStation) or A (Xbox) cashes it in for Studs. The reward amount varies per challenge, so check back often rather than saving them all for one session.

All Challenges and How to Complete Them
The table below lists every challenge, its objective, and the fastest known method to clear it. Character-specific challenges are noted so you know who to swap to before starting.

Which challenges are the hardest to complete?
Most challenges are self-explanatory, but a handful require setup or patience.
Assassin is the biggest grind at 200 stealth takedowns. The Chapter 1: Infiltration mission is the go-to farm spot because it resets cleanly and keeps enemies in predictable patrol routes. Expect to run it 8 to 10 times depending on how efficient your routes are.
Utility Belt requires 168 WayneTech Chips total to unlock every Focus Ability upgrade at the Workbench. That is a significant currency investment, so prioritize WayneTech Cache collection throughout the story rather than saving it for late game. The all collectibles guide maps out every Cache location if you need help tracking them down.
The Floor is Lava trips up a lot of players because 60 seconds sounds short until you realize how fast you lose altitude without wind tunnels. Start from the highest rooftop available and plan your tunnel-to-tunnel route before committing to the glide.
Paranormal Investigator is missable in the sense that the Gentleman Ghost only appears when you activate Photo Mode near his location. He spawns near a tree in the northwest part of East End - Amusement Mile. If you walk past without switching to Photo Mode, nothing happens.
The Shield Surfer challenge requires pressing Circle/B at the right moment as you approach a Shield Enemy, not just running into them. Mistiming it counts as a hit rather than a dodge, so slow down and wait for the prompt.
Tips for clearing challenges efficiently
A few approaches make the full list much more manageable.
Stack stealth challenges together. Assassin and Ninja both require stealth takedowns. Running Infiltration with the explicit goal of 15 consecutive undetected takedowns per run knocks out Ninja quickly while chipping away at Assassin's 200-takedown count.
Use the Batcave safe for Speedy Safecracker. There is a safe in the Batcave specifically for Catwoman. Practicing there removes the pressure of finding a safe mid-mission, and you can retry immediately if you miss the 10-second window.
Brute-Man is faster than it looks. The Chapter 2 Mimes level has a reliable Brute who charges in a straight line. Position a group of smaller enemies between you and the Brute, bait the charge, then dodge. With good positioning you can hit the 10-run requirement in a single visit to that level.
Dark Knight Mode challenges can be combined. In Blackest Night (complete a mission in Dark Knight Mode) and Tough Guy (defeat 100 enemies in Dark Knight Mode) overlap naturally. Set the difficulty before replaying a mission and you progress both at once.
What rewards do challenges give you?
Every challenge pays out Studs when cashed in at the green computer terminal in the Batcave. The exact amount varies per challenge, but completing all 43 contributes meaningfully to your total Stud count, which matters for unlocking costumes like the Gray Ghost (50,000 Studs) and for the Calculator and Multi-Man challenges that require hitting the maximum stud multiplier. Beyond Studs, finishing all 43 challenges builds out a mural in the Batcave and ties into two separate achievements.
For the Shield Surfer challenge specifically, you need 20 successful dodges over Shield Enemies, which rewards 5,000 Studs on completion.
