Lego Batman: Legacy Of The Dark Knight ...

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight packs a serious number of collectibles across its campaign missions, and hunting them all down is the difference between a casual run and a true 100% completion. Each mission hides a specific set of themed items alongside at least one Red Brick, and knowing where to look before you play saves a lot of backtracking. This guide covers every collectible location documented across the campaign, organized by chapter and mission.

What collectibles are in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight?

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight splits its collectibles into several distinct categories depending on the mission. Each type serves a different purpose and rewards you in a different way.

  • Themed collectibles (Surf Boards, Bonsai Trees, Disco Balls, Ace Cards, Cat Heads, Rubber Ducks, Boomboxes, Cakes, Coins, Kites, Venus Fly Traps, Snow Globes, Spaceships): These are mission-specific decorative items. Collecting all of a given type unlocks it as a decorative model for your Batcave.
  • WayneTech Caches: These grant ability points used to upgrade and improve your characters' strength. They appear in select missions and are worth prioritizing early.
  • Red Bricks: One per mission. Red Bricks unlock new suit customization colors for all characters, making them a priority for anyone who wants full cosmetic options.

How to find all Docks collectibles (New Beginnings Surf Boards)

The New Beginnings mission, set at the Docks, contains 5 Surf Boards and 1 Red Brick, for a total of 6 collectibles. Here's where each one sits

Surf Board locations

  1. Surf Board 1/5: Near the start of the level, in a corner close to the opening area.
  2. Surf Board 2/5: Located near the spinning blue container puzzle.
  3. Surf Board 3/5: Found near the ladder after completing the train puzzle.
  4. Surf Board 4/5: Near the crawlspace shortly after Surf Board 3, at the edge of the dock.
  5. Surf Board 5/5: Near the battering ram, close to the yellow container.

Red Brick location

The Red Brick is hidden inside a room near the battering ram. To reach it, grapple onto the roof of the structure and drop down through the opening inside. Collecting it unlocks a new suit customization color for all characters.

Why collect Red Bricks and themed items?

Red Bricks unlock suit customization colors for every character in your roster, which matters if you want to personalize your Gotham heroes beyond their default looks. Themed collectibles like Surf Boards, Snow Globes, and Bonsai Trees fill out your Batcave with decorative models, rewarding completionists with a visually richer home base.

WayneTech Caches are the most mechanically impactful collectible type. The ability points they provide feed directly into character upgrades, so missing them on your first pass through a mission means going back in Free Play later. If you're planning a single efficient run, treat every Cache location as a required stop.

For context on how long this all takes, the main campaign runs around 15 hours, with full 100% completion pushing past 50 hours, so pacing your collectible hunts across multiple sessions is a reasonable approach.

Tips for efficient collectible hunting

  • Play missions twice if needed: Story mode locks some collectibles behind abilities you don't have yet. Free Play lets you return with any unlocked character.
  • Prioritize WayneTech Caches: The ability point upgrades they provide make combat and puzzle sections easier in later chapters.
  • Check every corner at the start: Surf Board 1 in New Beginnings sits in a corner near the opening area, which many players walk straight past.
  • Use grapple points actively: The Red Brick in New Beginnings requires a grapple to reach. Any time you see a rooftop near a puzzle area, check for a grapple opportunity.
  • Studs help unlock multipliers: If you're farming currency alongside collectibles, the stud farming guide covering multiplier tricks and Jim Gordon's Rebound Launcher is worth reading before you start grinding.

Is this guide complete?

The full 100% walkthrough covering every chapter is still being updated as more mission-specific guides go live. The Prologue through Chapter 4 structure above reflects the complete mission list, but individual room-by-room breakdowns for missions beyond New Beginnings are being added progressively. For the full collection of guides covering every aspect of the game, the LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight guides hub has everything in one place as coverage expands.
