Marvel Rivals Avengers Age of Ultron PvE Mode Guide

The Avengers are back, and this time they're going up against Ultron and his army of Sentry bots in Marvel Rivals' latest limited-time PvE mode. Following the Blood Hunt mode, the Path to Doomsday event continues with Avengers: Age of Ultron, a wave-based PvE experience that lets you play as seven reworked Avengers heroes with completely custom ability kits. It runs until August 27, 2026, at 9 AM UTC, so you have roughly four weeks to earn everything on offer.

How do you launch Avengers: Age of Ultron mode?

Getting into the mode takes just a few steps from the main menu:

  1. Select the Playlist button on the home screen.
  2. Navigate to the Rivalry tab.
  3. Find Path to Doomsday: Avengers Age of Ultron listed next to the Blood Hunt mode.
  4. Select your difficulty: Common or Hard.
  5. Queue up and jump in.

One thing to keep in mind: Hard difficulty is locked at the start. You need to clear a full run on Common first before Hard becomes available. Don't skip Normal just to rush the rewards, since that first clear also nets you 200 Units and a Gallery Card.

Which heroes can you play in Avengers: Age of Ultron mode?

Seven Avengers are available, each with a fully reworked ability kit built specifically for this PvE mode. These aren't their standard competitive loadouts, so even if you know a hero well from ranked play, take a minute to review the new abilities before diving in.

The playable roster:

warning
These are PvE-specific ability kits. None of these reworked moves carry over to standard competitive or quick play modes.

What enemies and bosses will you face?

The mode runs as a wave-based gauntlet against Ultron's forces. Unlike the Blood Hunt mode, there's only one boss here, but you fight him twice: once at the mid-stage and again in the finale.

Boss

  • Ultron (appears twice)

Enemy types

  • Sentry Bots
  • Flying Sentry Drones
  • Elite Sentries
  • Laser Sentries

The enemy variety keeps things moving between boss encounters. Laser Sentries in particular demand positioning awareness since they punish players who stand still. Elite Sentries hit harder than standard bots and should be prioritized before they stack up.

important
You face Ultron twice per run. The second encounter is the harder of the two, so save your Ultimate ability for the finale if possible.

What rewards can you earn from Avengers: Age of Ultron mode?

The reward list is solid, and the headline item, the Ultron "Avengers: Age of Ultron" Costume, is completely free. You just need to clear Hard difficulty once to claim it.

Loading table...

The hero-specific Hard clears are worth grinding if you want to collect every title. Each one requires a full Hard difficulty run with that specific Avenger, so plan your sessions around rotating through the roster rather than spamming one hero.

tip
The 3,000 enemy defeat challenge accumulates across all your runs, so you don't need to hit that number in a single session.

How does Age of Ultron compare to Blood Hunt mode?

The Blood Hunt mode featured deeper character build systems across its run. Age of Ultron is a more streamlined experience with a single boss focus and wave-based structure. That's not necessarily a downside; the shorter loop makes it easier to grind the hero-specific Hard clears without committing to long sessions.

For players who want to see how the current meta is shifting alongside this event, the Marvel Rivals 6.5 patch notes covering Elsa Bloodstone and hero balance changes are worth checking before you jump back into ranked between PvE sessions.

If you're newer to the Path to Doomsday event and missed the earlier PvP mode, the full guide to the Path to Doomsday Avengers mode breaks down the asymmetric structure and Loki's ability kit in detail.

Is the Avengers: Age of Ultron mode permanent?

No. The mode is confirmed as limited-time and ends on August 27, 2026, at 9 AM UTC. NetEase extended the Blood Hunt mode after community feedback, so an extension is possible, but don't count on it. Treat the deadline as firm and work through the reward checklist before the mode disappears.
