MONGIL: STAR DIVE Character Tier List

Who is Jiwon in Mongil: Star Dive?

Jiwon is a 5-star Wind Support character from the Surah region in Mongil: Star Dive. She plays the pipa to gather enemies, stack Melody charges, and then unleash Divine Harmony buffs on her teammates the moment you switch her out. Her kit revolves entirely around that rhythm: attack, stack, switch, buff. No healing, no shields, but the damage amplification she provides is among the strongest in the game, especially for Wind-focused teams.

What makes Jiwon worth pulling?

Jiwon sits at SS tier on the overall character rankings according to community guides (as documented by GameWith). That rating comes from two things her Passive Trait, Melodic Blessings, does that almost no other Support replicates simultaneously: Wind DMG amplification and Stamina Consumption reduction. At 9 Melody stacks, Wind DMG increases by a combined 25% (10% from Tier 1 plus 15% from Tier 3), and Stamina Consumption drops by 100%, effectively zeroing it out for the 7-second duration. At 12 stacks, that duration extends to 12 seconds.

Her weakness is straightforward: she has zero survivability tools built into her kit. No healing, no damage mitigation. Leafy Mama as a Link Chain monsterling patches this by healing her when she uses her Special Skill, which matters because she spends real time in the frontline gathering Melody.

Jiwon best artifact: Melody Played on Heartstrings

Melody Played on Heartstrings is Jiwon's signature artifact and the clear best-in-slot option. Equipping it on a Support character grants Vitality to the whole team whenever Jiwon uses a Switch Skill. Vitality ramps up Basic Attack, Special Skill, and Ultimate Skill DMG by 2.5% per second (base value) when Stamina stays at 90% or above, capping at 20 stacks after 20 seconds. At max fusion, that per-second rate doubles to 5%, meaning the full 20-stack buff reaches 100% DMG increase.

The 30-second duration means the team holds the full buff for 10 seconds after hitting the cap, which lines up well with burst windows on DPS characters like Esther. The artifact also provides 15% Ultimate Gauge Charge at max stats, keeping Jiwon's Eternal Melody ultimate available more often.

At fusion Level 3, it gains a 0.06% Ultimate Gauge Charge Boost per 10 Support proficiency points (max 15%). At Level 5, it picks up the same scaling for Wind DMG Boost.

What is the best equipment set for Jiwon?

The Devourer Stance 4-piece set is the top recommendation. The 2-piece bonus adds 5% Wind DMG when attacking an enemy with Wind Affliction. The 4-piece effect is what makes it best for Jiwon specifically: teammates gain +3% Crit Rate for 5 seconds after Jiwon uses a Support Skill, and Crit DMG increases by 10% for 5 seconds when she uses a Tag-out Skill. Both effects proc constantly in normal rotation.

If you do not have Devourer Stance pieces, a hybrid Assault Squad Leader (2-piece) + Frenzied White Wolf (2-piece) setup works as a substitute. Assault Squad Leader gives 5% ATK for 5 seconds on Support Skill use, while Frenzied White Wolf gives the team 3% DEF for 5 seconds on Support Skill use. You lose the Crit bonuses but gain a double-buff on every Support Skill cast.

Best monsterlings for Jiwon

The Link Chain slot goes to Leafy Mama. Jiwon has no natural healing, and Leafy Mama fills that gap by restoring HP whenever she uses her Special Skill (Sonic Wave). This matters because Jiwon stays in the frontline long enough to take hits while building Melody.

For the second slot, Big Bro Goblin lets Jiwon provide healing to the team through her Basic Attacks, which she is already spamming to stack Melody. The third slot goes to El Dorado Guardian, which boosts the party's Attack when you hit a boss at its Elemental Weakness, a useful passive for boss content.

GameWith's community guides suggest an alternative setup using Avardan, Amon, and Taglock to prioritize team-wide DPS over survivability. That setup trades Jiwon's personal sustain for more aggressive damage output, which works if your team composition already handles healing through another character.

This is Jiwon's strongest context. Bonnie applies Wind Affliction to enemies as a debuffer, Jiwon provides Wind DMG buffs and Stamina reduction, and Esther (or Sangun) lands the burst damage. The interaction is direct: Jiwon's Eternal Melody ultimate also applies Wind Affliction, reducing Wind Resistance by 15% for 5 seconds. Use the ultimate before swapping to your DPS to stack both Affliction and the Divine Harmony buff simultaneously.

GameWith's team guide specifically highlights the Esther and Jiwon pairing as the strongest two-character core, with a flexible third slot for a Destroyer or attacker that covers the enemy's Elemental Weakness.

Flexible support (off-Wind teams)

Jiwon's Stamina Consumption reduction is element-agnostic. Any character that benefits from free Stamina usage can take advantage of her Tier 2 and Tier 3 Divine Harmony effects. She is not as strong outside Wind teams since the Wind DMG buff portion goes to waste, but the Stamina reduction alone is enough to justify a slot in many compositions.

How to play Jiwon: the core gameplay loop

Jiwon's rotation is not complicated, but the timing matters.

  1. Switch to Jiwon and use Sonic Wave (Special Skill) immediately. It deals 169.7% Wind DMG, gathers nearby enemies in front of her, and knocks them Airborne, giving you a favorable position to chain attacks.
  2. Follow up with Strings on the Wind (Basic Attack) to build Melody stacks. Each Basic Attack gives 2 stacks. Watch the Melody gauge above the HP bar.
  3. Track your stack count. The buff tiers change at 3, 6, 9, and 12 stacks. Aim for at least 9 before switching out to get the full Wind DMG + Stamina reduction combination.
  4. Once you hit your target stack count, use Let Me Sing You A Song (Switch Skill) to tag out. This deals 89% Wind DMG and simultaneously grants Divine Harmony to the whole team based on the Melody count reached.
  5. If your Ultimate Gauge is charged, use Eternal Melody before switching. It deals 367.8% Wind DMG in a wide area and applies Wind Affliction for 5 seconds, cutting Wind Resistance by 15%.

Jiwon's Evasion Counter has one of the highest multipliers in the game at 137.6%. She is not just passively standing there between buff windows; she can actively deflect attacks and punish enemies while building Melody.

Jiwon awakening priority

Not all Awakenings are equal. Here is the order to target based on community analysis from Game8's guide:

A1 (Fundamental Pipa Tuning) is a top priority. When Jiwon switches out with 3 or more Melody stacks, she automatically gains 3 more and applies Divine Harmony. She also inflicts Melodic Fracture on enemies, which stacks Wind Resistance reduction by 1% per stack up to 10 stacks. That is a 10% Wind RES debuff on top of what her ultimate already provides.

A4 (Embrace the Dew, Capture the Light) is the other must-have. It increases the Melody gained from Basic Attacks to 3 (up from 2), Special Skill to 6 (up from 3), and Ultimate to 12 (up from 9). Reaching 12 stacks in a single Ultimate cast is a major acceleration. It also adds +30% Wind DMG and +5% ATK to the Tier 3 Divine Harmony effect and increases Ultimate Gauge Charge by 20%.

A6 (I Shall Be Your Spring) rounds out the priority list. Tier 4 Divine Harmony duration extends from 12 seconds to 17 seconds, and a +20% Special Skill and Ultimate Skill DMG effect gets added. Jiwon's Ultimate also directly grants Divine Harmony to the team at this stage, adding a second activation method beyond the Switch Skill.

A2 provides a modest 2-3% ATK boost to Divine Harmony and lets Jiwon use Basic Attacks during Divine Harmony's duration when switched out. Useful, but not urgent.

A3 and A5 both just increase skill levels by 2 and add small percentage boosts (6% Basic Attack DMG and 6% Ultimate DMG respectively). Take them when you have the resources, but they are not reasons to push Awakening ahead of A1, A4, or A6.

Her base stats lean toward offense rather than bulk, which matches her role: she is in and out of the frontline quickly, not tanking hits. The Leafy Mama monsterling covers the HP deficit in practice.
