What are Keys in Mongil Star Dive?

Keys are the stamina currency in Mongil: Star Dive, and almost every meaningful progression activity costs them. Paths, training stages, and enhancement farming all pull from the same pool, so knowing how to earn, restore, and spend Keys efficiently separates players who plateau early from those who keep climbing. This guide covers every recovery method confirmed in the game, plus a priority breakdown for where your Keys actually matter.

How do Keys recover in Mongil Star Dive?

The base recovery rate is 1 Key every 12 minutes, according to GameWith's stamina guide. At that pace, a fully depleted pool of 100 Keys takes exactly 20 hours to refill. That cap of 100 is important to keep in mind: once you hit it, standard recovery stops.

What happens when Keys overflow the cap?

Once your regular Keys reach 100, the game does not simply waste the overflow. Instead, it begins generating Spare Keys at a slightly slower rate of 1 every 18 minutes. Spare Keys convert back to regular Keys at a 1:1 ratio and can stockpile up to a full week's worth of overflow stamina. If you know you won't be logging in for a while, this system acts as a passive buffer.

All the ways to restore Keys

Beyond natural regeneration, there are five additional methods to restore Keys, each with different costs and availability.

Stardust consumables

Stardust is a consumable item earned from events and the Stellar Voyage feature. Three rarities exist, each restoring a different amount:

Use Stardust freely since it has no secondary purpose beyond stamina restoration. Prioritize higher-rarity Stardust when you need a large burst of Keys before a farming session.

Sending and receiving Keys with friends

The friend system in Mongil: Star Dive has a direct stamina benefit. You can send 1 Key to each friend per day, with a cap of 30 friends. On the receiving end, you can collect Keys from up to 20 friends daily. Critically, sending a Key to a friend does not reduce your own pool, so there is zero downside to sending every day.

Building out your friends list early is one of the most underrated free stamina sources in the game. Even at 20 daily receives, the passive gain adds up quickly over a week.

Adventure Level milestone rewards

Every time your Adventure Level hits a multiple of 5 (Level 5, 10, 15, and so on), you receive 25 Keys as a milestone reward. These rewards must be manually claimed at the Guild Desk and do not expire, so you can hold them until your Key pool is low enough to absorb the full 25 without waste.

Starlight Crystals (use with caution)

Starlight Crystals can be spent to instantly restore 30 Keys, but the cost escalates with each use within the same day:

The math rarely favors spending crystals on stamina unless you are a heavy spender with surplus currency. Even the first-use cost of 35 crystals for just 30 Keys is a poor exchange compared to the gacha value.

Where should you spend your Keys?

Every Path entry costs a flat 10 Keys regardless of difficulty. Higher difficulties offer better rewards for the exact same cost, so you should always push the hardest difficulty you can clear. Failing or withdrawing from a Path does not cost Keys, so there is no risk in attempting a higher tier.

Here is how to prioritize your spending based on what your account needs:

Event Stages: always the top priority

When an active event is running, farm event stages before anything else. A single stage run drops tokens exchangeable for multiple types of enhancement materials, making it the most efficient use of Keys available. Event windows are limited, so treat them as the highest-value target whenever they exist.

Breakthrough Paths: your character level cap depends on these

Breakthrough materials determine how high your characters can be leveled. Class-specific Paths like the Path of Fighters drop the exact materials needed for that class. Check which classes your main team uses and farm accordingly. Running out of Breakthrough materials is one of the most common reasons players stall in mid-game.

Experience Training: keep your party leveled

Character EXP items from Experience Training are consumed constantly as you push new content. One detail worth knowing: any excess EXP from leveling a character or Monsterling is refunded as EXP items, so you will not waste resources from over-leveling. Prioritize this Path whenever your EXP stockpile runs thin.

Artifact Enhancement Training: the fastest Attack Power increase

According to GameWith's guide, upgrading Artifacts is the most direct method for increasing Attack Power. This makes Artifact Enhancement Training a high-priority Path, second only to keeping your characters leveled. If you are hitting a damage wall, this is usually the fastest fix.

Equipment Enhancement Training: gear up when you're stuck

Equipment EXP from this Path translates directly into stat boosts on your gear. If a boss or difficult stage is blocking progress, farming Equipment Enhancement Training to upgrade your loadout is typically more effective than replaying story content.

Teachings of Fire and element Paths: save for later

Element-specific Paths drop skill enhancement items that improve skill multipliers for characters of that element. Because skill upgrades only affect multipliers rather than base stats, these Paths are low priority until your characters are already well-leveled and geared. Save your Keys for more impactful activities first.

Building good Key habits from day one

The players who progress fastest in Mongil: Star Dive are not necessarily the ones spending the most, they are the ones spending consistently. Log in often enough to avoid hitting the 100 Key cap, claim Adventure Level rewards when your pool is low, maintain a full friends list for passive daily gains, and hold Stardust for when you need a burst session on a high-priority Path.
