Remedy Entertainment returned to profit in Q3 2026 as revenue jumped 226% to $44.3 million following CONTROL Resonant.

For Control players, the interesting part goes beyond the balance sheet: the sequel is bringing a substantial new audience into the series while also lifting sales of the original.

Almost half of Resonant’s players are newcomers

Almost 50% of Control Resonant players were new to the franchise.

“Reaching new players was a key goal for this game,” CEO Jean-Charles Gaudechon said, describing the early results as evidence of a growing audience for both Control and Remedy.

The United States was the sequel’s biggest market, accounting for nearly 50% of unit sales and revenue across PC and consoles. The studio is focused on getting the game into more players’ hands.

The sales bump is reaching backward, too. The original Control, released in 2019 and now past 6 million copies sold, generated more sales in Q3 than in the previous two quarters combined.

Self-publishing puts more on Remedy’s books

Remedy returned to profit in Q3 2026, a turnaround from the previous year.

Gaudechon called Control Resonant Remedy’s first self-published game “of this scale” and described the release as “a defining milestone” for the company.

The quarter’s revenue came through two main channels:

  • Game sales and royalties generated the majority of the total.
  • Development fees covered work on the Max Payne 1 & 2 remake, alongside the final development-fee accrual under the Annapurna Pictures agreement for Control Resonant.

That arrangement dates to the agreement announced in August 2024. It puts the revenue surge in context: publishing the game brings costs alongside the larger sales contribution.

Firebreak and Alan Wake tell a different story

FBC: Firebreak has a different audience mix, with most players accessing it through Game Pass or PlayStation Plus. Firebreak is generating less revenue in its second year.

The Alan Wake franchise had a quieter quarter. Remedy also fully depreciated Alan Wake 2’s capitalized development costs during Q3, while its other projects continued through the development pipeline.
