"These extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve." That was Rockstar Games making its case for the second GTA 6 delay. The wait ends November 19, and as of today, you can finally put your money down.
Grand Theft Auto 6 preorders went live at midnight on June 25 across the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, and the Rockstar Games Store. Two editions are available: a Standard Edition at $79.99 and an Ultimate Edition at $99.99, both for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
Pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI are now open, you can pre-order here.
What the $20 difference actually gets you
Here's the thing: the Standard Edition is described by Rockstar as "a single-player experience." There is no bundled version of GTA Online included, which is a deliberate separation from how GTA V was packaged. The multiplayer component will come later.
The $99.99 Ultimate Edition is where Rockstar stacks the extras. The full list of exclusive content includes:
- A '95 Grotti Cheetah vehicle
- Hawk & Little Morgan Revolvers and personalized sidearm variants
- Exclusive outfits, tattoos, hairstyles, makeup, and nail art for protagonists Jason and Lucia
- Jason's Safehouse vehicles
- A Vapid Ganado modkit
- Access to two exclusive vehicle mod shops and a clothing store
- A Shitzu Squalo boat
- A '67 Vapid Dominator Buggy with a garage
- A raid mission targeting the PTT Youngin$ Illegal Goods Store, a gang compound
- A side mission to find and restore classic cars
That's a substantial amount of in-game material, and the mix of story-adjacent missions alongside cosmetics makes the Ultimate Edition more compelling than a typical "extra skins" upsell.
The Vintage Vice City Pack and why every preorder gets it
Every player who buys GTA 6 before November 20 gets the Vintage Vice City Pack, regardless of which edition they choose. Rockstar describes it as "a collection of items that flash back to when the neon burned brightest."
The pack includes:
- A yellow '55 Vapid Stanier vehicle with its own garage
- Special retro outfits and hairstyles for both Jason and Lucia
- A palm tree weapon pattern
Digital preorders also come with a free month of GTA+, Rockstar's membership service that unlocks GTA Online bonuses and access to a library of older Rockstar titles. The subscription normally runs $7.99 per month.
Launch date, preload, and the long road to November
GTA 6 launches Thursday, November 19. Preload opens on November 12, giving players a week to download before day one. Physical copies will include a download code to enable preloading.
The road to this moment has been longer than most anticipated. The game was first announced in December 2023, originally targeting a late 2025 launch. Rockstar pushed it to May 2026, then delayed again to fall 2026. Two delays in roughly two years, after a 13-year gap since GTA V, is the kind of timeline that tests patience. The preorders going live today, paired with a firm November date, suggests Rockstar is done moving the goalposts.
Trailer 3 has been widely expected to arrive around the same time as preorders opening. If you want the latest on what Rockstar might drop next, check out when GTA 6 Trailer 3 is coming out for everything confirmed so far.
