The crossover fans have wanted since Helldivers 2 launched is finally locked in. Arrowhead has fully revealed the Castellan's Creed Legendary Warbond, the official HELLDIVERS 2 x Warhammer 40,000 collaboration, complete with a full weapons and armor breakdown and a confirmed release date of August 12.
The Warbond draws directly from the Astra Militarum regiment known as the Cadian Kasrkin, which most of the community had already predicted. Arrowhead framed the whole thing as a tribute to Helldivers who died defending the world of Chara during the First Galactic War, a thinly veiled nod to Cadia, one of the most iconic planets in the Warhammer 40,000 setting.
The weapons arriving on August 12
The Warbond brings two primary weapons, a stratagem, and a throwable, and the loadout looks genuinely distinct from anything currently in the game.
The R/40-K Hot-Shot Marksman Rifle is the primary weapon, described as deadly at close range and deadlier at long range. Think precision tool rather than spray-and-pray. Alongside it sits the P/40-K Bolt Pistol as a sidearm, which Arrowhead teased last week. It leads with raw stopping power and versatility, two things that tend to matter a lot once you push into higher difficulty missions.
The stratagem is where things get spicy. The 40-K Meltagun fires a short-ranged superheated beam capable of turning steel into slag. Anyone familiar with Warhammer 40,000 knows exactly what a Meltagun does to armor, and the description here suggests it will carve through the toughest enemies in the game. Pair that with the G/40-K Meltamine, a proximity-activated burst mine that Arrowhead warns is dangerous to friend and foe alike, and you have a loadout built around punishing anything that gets close.
Two armor sets, one passive
Both armor sets in the Warbond share the True Grit passive, which grants +20 weapon handling and +30% reload speed for support weapons. That second stat is worth paying attention to, especially for players who run heavy support loadouts. If you want to understand how armor passives stack up across the full roster, the Helldivers 2 armor passives guide breaks down which ones actually move the needle.
The TG-8 Sharpshooter is a medium armor set described as gear for obedience rather than survival, which fits the Cadian aesthetic perfectly. The TG-122 Demo-Trooper goes heavier, built to endure the harshest warzones and carrying the visual weight of Charan military history.
Beyond the weapons and armor, the Warbond includes the Camo Cloak and City Fighter's Resolve capes, a Still Standing title, and the Castellan's Green pattern.
Why this crossover lands differently
The thematic overlap between these two universes has always been obvious. Helldivers are cannon fodder in a galaxy-wide war against alien horrors, which maps almost directly onto the Warhammer 40,000 experience of being a regular human soldier in the Emperor's army. The Terminids and Tyranids share the same basic horror, and the Automatons draw clear parallels to the Necrons. Arrowhead's production director Alex Bolle confirmed as far back as April last year that internal discussions about a Warhammer 40,000 collaboration were already happening, and creative director Johan Pilestedt had Warhammer 40,000 near the top of his dream crossover list alongside Aliens, Starship Troopers, and Terminator.
The fact that it landed as a Legendary Warbond rather than a standard one signals Arrowhead is treating this as a premium release, not a quick cosmetic drop. The Meltagun stratagem in particular could shift loadout meta depending on how it performs against armored enemies on higher difficulties. If you want to get your stratagem knowledge sorted before August 12, the Helldivers 2 stratagems guide covers every category with tier picks and enemy-specific advice.
The Castellan's Creed Legendary Warbond goes live on August 12. Mark the date.
