KINGDOM HEARTS has arrived in Fortnite, bringing Sora and other characters from the Square Enix series to the Battle Royale Island alongside new gameplay items, special Overrides, and limited-time events.
Players can now wield the Kingdom Key, allowing them to perform melee combos and call down a bolt of lightning against opponents. The crossover also introduces Sea Salt Ice Cream, which can restore both health and shields.
The arrival of KINGDOM HEARTS also changes the appearance of the Fortnite Island. A heart-shaped moon can now be seen in the sky, while two new KINGDOM HEARTS Overrides have been added to matches.
New KINGDOM HEARTS Overrides in Fortnite
The crossover introduces two Overrides that can affect matches in different ways.
The Recovery Override applies to squads and the entire match. When a player is eliminated using any weapon, healing orbs will drop at their location. This gives surviving players an additional way to recover health during a match.
The Level Up Override is available to squads. When active, a Mythic Kingdom Key spawns for each member of the squad at their current location.
These Overrides add additional ways for teams to access the crossover's equipment and recovery mechanics while playing Battle Royale.
Fortnite KINGDOM HEARTS Power Hours
Fortnite will also host KINGDOM HEARTS Power Hours on Saturday, September 19.
During the event, all players will begin their matches with a Kingdom Key and Sea Salt Ice Cream. The Power Hours are scheduled for two separate periods:
- 2 to 4 PM ET
- 9 to 11 PM ET
The event gives players guaranteed access to the crossover's key equipment from the beginning of each match.
Sora, Riku, Kairi, and Roxas Join Fortnite
The KINGDOM HEARTS crossover also extends to the Fortnite Item Shop, with four character Outfits now available.
Players can purchase the Sora, Riku, Kairi, and Roxas Outfits, with each character receiving a matching Back Bling and Pickaxe. The characters also include LEGO Fortnite styles.
Fortnite players can also watch for the Shadow Steppers Kicks, which are part of the wider KINGDOM HEARTS-themed content arriving in the game.
With the new Outfits, Kingdom Key, Sea Salt Ice Cream, Overrides, and Power Hours, the KINGDOM HEARTS collaboration adds both cosmetic and gameplay content to Fortnite's Battle Royale experience.
