Splatoon Raiders Lintle Inlet Old Compass & Briny Scroll Locations

Splatoon Raiders hides a lot more than just Salmonids and upgrade materials across its maps. Scattered throughout the game's levels are Briny Scrolls, lore collectibles that piece together the world's backstory one fragment at a time. If you've been blasting through levels without checking corners, there's a solid chance you've missed most of them.

Splatoon Raiders, the Splatoon 3 spin-off built around co-op Salmonid raids and tank-based combat, packs a surprising amount of world-building into these small collectibles. The key here is understanding where the game tends to hide them, because the placement follows a few consistent patterns once you know what to look for.

Where Briny Scrolls tend to hide

Most Briny Scrolls turn up in one of two places: destructible boxes and crates sitting off the main path through a level, or in tucked-away corners that require a slight detour from the objective. The game rarely drops them directly in front of you. Expect to hug walls, check behind structures, and break anything that looks like it could contain loot.

Secret islands are another source worth knowing about. These hidden areas, reachable through the Old Compass mechanic, sometimes contain Briny Scrolls alongside the Skill Points they reward. The Old Compass system involves three compass variants: a standard one that points you in a fixed direction, an orange version that fills as you move toward the target, and a blue variant that acts more like a signal meter. Each one leads to a hidden island that wouldn't appear on your map otherwise.

tip
Blue Compass islands are the trickiest to locate. Move slowly and avoid overcorrecting, since the signal meter drops off fast if you drift sideways.

The levels where scrolls cluster

Briny Scrolls are not spread evenly. Earlier levels tend to have 1 or 2 per map, with later areas stacking more of them in harder-to-reach spots. The pattern mirrors how the game introduces other collectibles: simple placements first, then increasingly obscure ones as the difficulty ramps up.

Players who've been focused on optimizing loadouts and pushing through the main campaign often circle back to earlier levels once they realize how many scrolls they missed. That's worth keeping in mind before you assume a level is fully cleared.

What Briny Scrolls actually give you

These aren't gameplay-affecting collectibles. Briny Scrolls deliver lore text, short written entries that expand on the world's history, the Salmonid conflict, and the broader fiction sitting underneath the action. For players who want to understand the story beyond what the main missions tell them, the scrolls fill in real gaps.

That said, completionists hunting for 100% map clears will need them regardless. Missing scrolls means an incomplete level record, which matters if you're chasing full completion across the game.

For players building out the rest of their run, the Splatoon Raiders weapon types guide covers every weapon category and how to unlock them, which pairs well with any loot-focused playthrough. And if you're putting together a late-game build before tackling the harder hidden islands, the best gadgets guide breaks down the top endgame loadout options by tank type.

The full Splatoon Raiders guide collection has the rest covered if you're working through everything the game has to offer.
