Palworld 1.0 dropped Sunreach Island as a brand-new area packed with new Pals and its own quest line. The catch: the island doesn't show up on your map at all until you've unlocked it through a very specific route. You can't just fly there. You have to earn it.
What you need before heading to Sunreach Island
Sunreach Island sits behind a progression gate, so showing up underprepared will cost you. The path runs through Feybreak Island, which has extremely low temperatures. Bring cold-resistant gear or you'll be fighting the environment the whole way there.
The destination is the Feybreak Tower, located at coordinates -1294, -1669 on the southern border of Feybreak Island. If you haven't been to this part of the map yet, mark those coordinates now.

How to defeat Bjorn and Bastigor at Feybreak Tower
The tower is guarded by Bjorn and Bastigor. These two are the real barrier between you and Sunreach Island, and they're not pushovers. Make sure your player level and your Pals are genuinely ready before you trigger the encounter. Going in underleveled is a fast way to waste the trip.
After testing various approaches to this fight, having high-level Pals with strong elemental coverage makes the biggest difference. The boss encounter spawns once you reach the tower, so there's no accidental triggering.
Once you defeat them, you gain access to the top of the tower. There's no alternative route up. The boss fight is the only way.
Where is the portal to Sunreach Island?
Once Bjorn and Bastigor are down, you can teleport directly to the top of the tower. The portal is waiting there. Interact with it and you'll get a prompt asking whether you want to travel to another location.
Confirm the choice, give it a few seconds to load, and you'll arrive at Sunreach Island. Opening your map at this point will finally show the island's location, which is the first time it becomes visible.
What happens when you arrive at Sunreach Island?
A NPC is waiting at the spawn point when you land. Talk to them and you'll receive your first quest on the island. The quest line appears connected to the World Tree, which was also added as part of version 1.0. The full quest chain is still being explored by the community, so expect more details to surface quickly.
Sunreach Island has its own roster of Pals to capture, separate from what you've seen on other islands. Before you start sprinting off to explore, take stock of your level. The Pals here are tuned for players who've already cleared Feybreak Tower content, so they won't be easy catches.
How does this fit into Palworld 1.0's new content?
Sunreach Island is one of the bigger additions in the 1.0 launch alongside the World Tree. The island represents a genuine late-game destination rather than something you stumble into early. The portal system through Feybreak Tower is a deliberate design choice that ties progression to exploration.
