Paralives Guide: How to Extinguish Fires

Fires in Paralives do not give you much warning. One moment your Parafolk is cooking dinner, and the next the kitchen is ablaze, furniture is burning, and your carefully built home is at risk. The good news is there are several ways to handle a fire, and at least one of them works reliably every time.

How do fires start in Paralives?

Fires can break out while Parafolk are cooking or potentially from electrical faults. The game is currently in Early Access, so fire mechanics may shift in future updates. What matters right now is knowing your options when flames appear.

Your Parafolk will automatically become afraid of fires and run out of the house on their own. That instinct is actually helpful because it buys you time to act before anyone gets hurt.

How to extinguish a fire yourself

The most direct method is selecting the fire directly and choosing 'Extinguish Fire' from the interaction menu. In most situations this works, but there is a real risk attached to it.

The longer a Parafolk stays near an active fire, the more their 'Get Away From Fire' need depletes. If that need bottoms out, the Parafolk can catch fire themselves. A burning Parafolk will eventually die if the flames are not dealt with.

If a Parafolk does catch fire, you have three options to save them:

• Select the burning Parafolk and choose to have them extinguish themselves.
• Direct another Parafolk to extinguish the burning one.
• Send the burning Parafolk to jump in a shower to douse the flames.

Should you call the firefighters?

You can direct any Parafolk to use their phone and call the Firefighters. A firefighter in a red uniform will arrive at your property. The problem is that their reliability is, to put it generously, inconsistent.

Firefighters frequently arrived and stood outside doing nothing. Calling multiple firefighters produced the same result. On the occasions they did help, they sometimes extinguished part of the fire but left flames burning on a separate floor of the house entirely.

The short version: calling firefighters is worth trying, but do not rely on them as your only plan.

What about the Fire Alarm?

You can purchase a Fire Alarm for your home in Paralives. When a fire starts, it will sound an alarm. However, it does not automatically contact the Firefighters, and if your camera is zoomed out far from the fire's location, you may not even hear it trigger.

The alarm is only genuinely useful if you happen to be zoomed in on the affected area when the fire breaks out. Think of it as a minor early-warning tool rather than a safety net.

How to quickly get rid of a fire without risking your Parafolk

This is the method that actually works every time, at least while the game is in Early Access.

Enter build mode during the fire. From there, you can select burning furniture and remove or sell it directly. In some situations, you can select and delete the fire itself. Once the burning objects are gone, the fire has nothing left to sustain it.

After clearing the flames, simply replace any furniture you lost and continue playing. No Parafolk at risk, no waiting on unreliable firefighters.
