You get stronger in Rob Run by earning cash, securing your earnings, and buying useful equipment while meeting settlement-level and jail-time requirements.

Start with an activity you can afford to repeat. A larger bag can support scavenging, while a firearm and compatible ammunition prepare you for dangerous jobs. Property adds storage, laundering, and purchasing access. Your spending also has a deadline: the Federal Raid resets possessions every seven days. Progress means improving what you can earn and accomplish during that cycle, while building the account progress that survives it.

How progression works

Rob Run links money, equipment access, and property. Cash funds purchases, but a large balance does not make every item available. Some goods require your base to be in a settlement of a certain level. Others require accumulated jail time.

Choose your next upgrade by identifying what stops your current activity from paying off. Running out of inventory space points toward a bag upgrade. Preparing for combat calls for a weapon, ammunition, and suitable protection. Needing somewhere to store goods or process cash makes a base more useful.

Check shipment requirements before saving

Press H to open the shipment menu. You can also access it through the side menu in the desert, Lenny's Motel, or Looty Bay.

Use the menu to separate an affordability problem from an access problem:

  1. Find the item you want.
  2. Read its settlement-level and accumulated-jail-time requirements.
  3. Check whether your base satisfies any location requirement.
  4. Check the unlock cost and purchase price before setting your savings target.

More cash will not remove a settlement restriction. Inspect the requirement first so you do not spend several runs saving for equipment you cannot buy yet.

What carries over between sessions

The seven-day Federal Raid is a server reset, not something triggered by ending your play session. It removes possessions accumulated during the cycle while retaining selected account details and progress.

Progress or possessionFederal Raid result
Plots and basesRemoved
WeaponsWiped
Cash, including banked fundsWiped
Cosmetics and player nameRetained
Tutorial progress and settingsRetained
Accumulated jail timeRetained

Wiped assets convert into jail time and authority. Your existing weapon or building does not remain intact simply because it contributes to that conversion.

Consider the remaining cycle before a major purchase. A weapon you can use across several outings has a clearer purpose than an expensive upgrade bought immediately before the reset. Banking protects earnings during the cycle, but it does not extend their lifetime beyond the Federal Raid.

Activities that advance your progress

Scavenge to establish your opening budget

Searchable trash containers can contain cash and sellable valuables. They give you an opening activity without requiring an expensive loadout, although individual rewards are not guaranteed.

Start with a short route and watch your remaining inventory space. Inspect unfamiliar finds before selling them. Keys and access items can have uses beyond their immediate sale value.

In Looty Bay, the fence buys stolen valuables from a van marked with a dollar sign on the map. Find that location before filling your bag so you already know where the trip's selling stage will happen.

Increase heist returns through Notoriety

Putting on a mask makes you a Criminal. Scout your target and escape route beforehand, because Police and other Criminals can intervene once you commit.

Completing heists back to back during the same city visit increases Notoriety. Higher Notoriety improves fence deals and provides perks, but it also increases risk. Solo players and duos start with higher Notoriety than full crews.

Extend a streak only while your supplies, carrying capacity, and escape route support another robbery. Houses and stores offer targets before the riskier bank and art gallery. Treat your first attempt as a learning run, with a clear point at which you will leave.

Use police work as another progression path

You can enlist at the Looty Bay Police Station when recruitment slots are open. Joining provides standard equipment and a patrol vehicle, giving you a route into police work without first purchasing a personal combat setup.

Police equipment has separate progression. Improving your badge unlocks better equipment, and availability also changes with server age. Patrol cops start with pistols on a fresh server, with better equipment becoming available later in the cycle.

Cargo hauling and base production offer other activities to pursue. Pick one direction for your opening investment so you can judge whether each purchase helps that activity.

How equipment affects your strength

Weapons can spawn as city loot or be purchased through the Black Market. Lenny provides access, and a laptop at your base offers another purchasing point.

Compare damage, fire rate, magazine capacity, and cost together. A weapon with higher damage per shot can still fire more slowly or hold fewer rounds than a cheaper option.

Compare useful weapon trade-offs

These examples show why price alone is a poor upgrade plan. The prices below are base prices, so check the purchase screen for the actual cost and availability.

WeaponDamageFire rateMagazine capacityBase price
DP-9 Mk118333 RPM14$300
CB45 Mk114545 RPM25$3,780
KL-545 Mk115600 RPM30$6,000
Vulture 50 Mk136240 RPM7$50,000

The DP-9 Mk1 provides a low-cost reference for an early firearm. The Vulture 50 Mk1 doubles its damage per shot, but has half its magazine capacity and a lower fire rate. It is not a straight improvement in every category.

Rob Run also uses firearms for crowd control alongside the firefights common in action games. Keeping staff at gunpoint prevents them from raising the alarm. Other witnesses, alarms, and players can still bring Police to the robbery.

Buy support gear for the job

A larger bag deserves priority when you repeatedly leave valuables behind. A firearm becomes more useful when your next activity involves combat, but budget for compatible ammunition as part of that purchase.

Check the current effects and prices of armor and medical supplies before buying them. Keep enough money to restart your chosen activity after a failed outing instead of putting the entire reserve into one item.

Early progression priorities

Use these milestones to turn your opening earnings into a useful setup. They are a practical order, not mandatory quest steps.

  1. Finish the introduction and learn the return route. Follow Lenny's directions and practise getting back from the city before carrying a large haul.
  2. Choose one upgrade target. Decide whether carrying capacity, combat equipment, or property would solve your immediate problem.
  3. Set an exit condition. Returning after one sale or when your bag fills helps keep a small trip from becoming an all-or-nothing run.
  4. Get a base when its facilities have a purpose. Storage, laundering, and laptop purchasing access give property a role beyond construction.
  5. Protect money reserved for later purchases. Use banking and laundering instead of carrying the full balance on another outing.

Open a bank account and launder cash

Visit Looty Bay Bank as a Civilian to open an account. At your base, use the Laundering Desk to process cash. The process takes time, so allow for that delay before planning a purchase around the funds.

Banked money is protected from theft, and you can withdraw it through ATMs. This is useful for the part of your budget that does not need to travel with you.

Progression mistakes to avoid

Treating every storage option as equivalent

Lenny's cash storage accepts money, not arbitrary equipment or stolen goods. Your base can store stolen goods, but other players can raid it. Check what a storage option accepts before relying on it for your next haul.

Your role and location also determine what a failed trip costs:

SituationWhat you lose or retain
Criminal dies in Looty BayInventory is lost
Criminal surrenders to PoliceBag contents are confiscated, but equipped gear is retained
Civilian dies in Looty BayBag contents and equipped gear are retained
Police officer diesDepartment-issued equipment is lost, but personal equipment is retained
Anyone dies in the desertAll loot is lost

An accepted bribe lets you keep your loot, but the officer can refuse. Do not make an expensive outing depend on another player accepting one.

Stopping the escape before leaving the city

Removing your mask does not clear Criminal status. You must leave Looty Bay. Reaching the fence or finishing the robbery is only part of the route, so plan the journey out before starting the job.

Do not count on receiving a free pistol after every respawn. Starter weapons must come from the available loot and purchasing options. Before risking your current loadout, check how you would replace the equipment needed for your next run.
