Anime Expeditions Raids Ultimate Beginner's Guide

Raids are the hardest content in Anime Expeditions right now, and they reward you accordingly. Unlike Story mode, every Raid act throws unique boss mechanics and stage modifiers at your team, and the exclusive unit drops you can earn here are not available anywhere else. This guide covers everything: how to unlock the mode, what each Spirit City Raid act demands from your roster, and how to spend your Raid Tokens without wasting them.

How do you unlock Raids in Anime Expeditions?

The gate is Player Level 25. You earn player levels through Story runs, Expeditions, summoning units, and completing quests, so you should hit that threshold naturally before you start feeling locked out of progression. Once you cross it, access Raids by clicking the Areas button on the left menu, selecting the Gamemode tab, and pressing E to open the Raids menu. From there you can either queue for matchmaking or jump in solo.

tip
Matchmaking is worth using here. Raid bosses have serious health pools and stage modifiers that punish solo players harder than coordinated teams.

You can also swap the map you want to play from the Raids menu when additional maps become available. Right now, Spirit City is the active Raid map, split across three acts with escalating difficulty.

What happens inside a Raid act?

Each act features a distinct boss and a set of stage effects, which are passive modifiers that change how enemies behave throughout the entire run. These modifiers stack pressure on your units in ways that normal Story maps simply do not. Every act also carries a chance to drop a unit exclusive to that stage, and that drop rate increases at higher difficulty settings.

Beyond the exclusive unit drops, every completed act pays out Raid Tokens alongside the standard currencies. Raid Tokens are the real reason to grind this mode, and the amount you earn scales upward from Act 1 through Act 3.

Before you queue, make sure your units are properly set up. Check the Anime Expeditions equipment guide to confirm you have the right gear equipped, since underpowered units will struggle against the modifiers below.

Here is the complete breakdown of every Spirit City Raid act, including the boss, all active stage modifiers, and the full reward list.

Stage effects explained

Every Raid act runs with four modifiers active simultaneously. Knowing what each one does changes how you position units and manage cooldowns.

  • Bulwark (Act 1 only): The boss becomes immune to all damage for 3 seconds every 10 seconds. Plan your burst windows around this cycle.
  • Immunity: The boss cannot be crowd-controlled at any point. Units built around stuns or slows lose a significant chunk of their value here.
  • Sprinter: Enemies move 45% faster but have 20% less health. Your placement needs to account for how quickly they reach your backline.
  • Tank: Enemies move 20% slower but carry 20% extra health. This modifier runs alongside Sprinter, meaning different enemy types can arrive at very different speeds with very different health bars.
  • Retaliation Counter (Act 2 only): Every 20 hits against the Silver Serpent triggers a 2-second stun on all your units. High attack-speed units can proc this faster than you expect.
  • Greed (Act 3 only): The Berserker steals 10% HP from all nearby units within 5 range every 10 seconds. Keep your squishier units out of that radius.
warning
Retaliation Counter punishes rapid-fire unit compositions hard in Act 2. If your roster leans on fast-attacking units, space out your placement so not every attacker is hitting the Silver Serpent simultaneously.

Full reward breakdown per act

Every act drops the same base currencies in addition to its unique rewards:

  • Gems: 125 per act
  • Gold: 125 per act
  • Unit EXP: 1,000 per act
  • Player EXP: 145 per act
  • Bunny Candy: 2 per act
  • Spirit Tokens: 10 (Act 1), 15 (Act 2), 20 (Act 3)

Act 3 also drops the Shinigami Sword at a 3.5% rate, while Acts 1 and 2 drop it at 2.5% and 3% respectively. The 8th Sword in Act 3 sits at just 1% with a 35-pity safety net, making it the rarest item in the entire Raid.

tip
Pity in Anime Expeditions means the game guarantees the drop after a set number of failed attempts. The 8th Sword's 35-pity is higher than Act 1 and 2 exclusives, which both use 20-pity, so expect to run Act 3 multiple times before it lands.

For a broader look at what maps reward across the whole game, the Anime Expeditions maps and rewards guide covers every stage outside of Raids too.

What can you buy in the Raids Shop?

Raid Tokens go into a dedicated shop that works differently from every other vendor in the game. The stock does not reset. Each item has a permanent purchase cap, so once you hit the limit on a specific item, that slot is gone for good.

The Trait Crystal limit of 50 makes it the highest-volume spendable here, and 10 Raid Tokens per crystal is a fair rate given how expensive trait farming gets otherwise. If you want to understand what traits are worth chasing before you start spending, the Anime Expeditions traits guide covers every trait ranked by tier.

How to get the most out of Raids

A few things separate players who clear Raids efficiently from those who grind for nothing:

  • Run Act 3 when your roster can handle it. The jump from 10 to 20 Raid Tokens per run doubles your shop currency, and the Shinigami Sword drop rate is also highest here.
  • Do not ignore the pity system. Tracking your failed attempts on exclusive unit drops matters, especially for the 8th Sword at 35 pity.
  • Higher difficulty = better unit drop odds. The game does not specify exact percentage increases per difficulty tier in the current patch notes, but the bonus is real and compounds over many runs.
  • Evolve your units before attempting Act 3. The Greed modifier plus the Berserker's health pool will expose any roster gaps. The Anime Expeditions evolution guide walks through every evolution requirement if you need to push units to their final forms first.

Raids are the fastest path to Trait Crystals and equipment reroll materials in the game right now. For more guides covering every system in the game, browse the full Roblox guides collection on GAMES.GG.
