Clover RPG traits do the quiet work. Your grimoire gets the flashy animations, but traits are what keep you alive long enough to use them, and what turn a decent build into one that actually functions under pressure. Every trait in Roblox's Clover RPG is unlocked through requirements rather than random rolls, so planning your path matters as much as the destination.

How do traits work in Clover RPG?

Traits are passive bonuses you unlock by meeting specific requirements and spending Skill Points. They fall into three broad categories based on what they demand:

  • One Stat: Primarily requires investment in a single attribute.
  • Multiple Stats: Requires two attributes to reach specified thresholds.
  • No Stat: Uses other conditions such as character level, completed quests, Marks, or previously unlocked traits.

Stat thresholds alone don't always cover the full requirement. Some traits also need a particular level, a quest completion, a set number of Marks, or another trait already purchased. The six core stats and what they do:

StatPrimary Function
StrengthMisdirect damage and physical-attack scaling
AgilityMovement speed and combat finesse
VitalityMaximum health and toughness
IntelligenceMaximum Mana pool
EnduranceMaximum Resolve
Magic PowerMagical damage output

Intelligence and Magic Power are not interchangeable. More Intelligence gives you a larger Mana pool. Magic Power increases how hard your spells hit. A caster build can care about both, but they solve different problems, so treat them separately when planning trait requirements.

What are the best traits in Clover RPG?

The answer depends on your stat spread and how you fight. Below are the standout picks, organized by role, with the full requirements and effects.

Best PvE trait: Mob Slayer

Requirements: 150 NPC kills and 3 Skill Points.

Mob Slayer grants 10% more damage to mobs with no conditions attached. No low-health threshold, no same-element matchup requirement, no opening-hit window. For any character grinding quests or farming enemies, this is one of the easiest three-point purchases to justify. It also doesn't ask you to divert stats into an attribute your build otherwise ignores.

Whether this bonus applies to bosses as well as standard enemies hasn't been definitively confirmed, so treat it as a strong regular-enemy damage pick for now.

Best early pickup: Weapons Expert

Requirements: Level 5 and 1 Skill Point.

Weapons Expert increases weapon proficiency gain by 50%. One point, an early level requirement, and the benefit compounds the longer you play. Buying it as soon as it unlocks gives you the most opportunities to benefit while training. The key thing to understand: faster proficiency gain is not a direct 50% damage increase. It gets you through weapon progression more efficiently, which matters more over a long session than in a single fight.

Best Mana-sustain trait: Arcane Rebound

Requirements: Level 20, 10 Intelligence, 6 Skill Points, and 50 Marks.

Arcane Rebound restores 5% of your Mana when you parry or dodge an attack. Successful defense fueling your offense is a strong loop for any caster. The description doesn't specify a trigger cooldown, meaning it activates on every successful parry or dodge.

This trait rewards high-skill play. If consistent dodging and parrying isn't your strength yet, hold off until it is.

For Wind magic users, pairing Arcane Rebound with Aerial Efficiency (which reduces airborne Wind spell costs by 30%) creates a tight resource loop: one trait recovers Mana, the other reduces how much you spend.

Best dodge upgrade: Graceful Escape

Requirements: 25 Agility and 3 Skill Points.

Graceful Escape increases dodge frames by 10%. Clean, unconditional, and useful against both players and enemies. If you're already building Agility, this is an easy justification. The wider dodge window helps players who struggle with timing without requiring you to take damage first.

Best knockdown counter: Rapid Recovery into Iron Rebound into Unyielding Bastion

This defensive chain is the most involved investment in the trait system, but it pays off against kits that repeatedly displace you.

  • Rapid Recovery (10 Vitality, 3 Skill Points): Recovery time after being knocked out is halved.
  • Iron Rebound (Rapid Recovery, 30 Vitality, 15 Endurance, 3 Skill Points): Ragdoll duration reduced by 15%.
  • Unyielding Bastion (Iron Rebound, 2 Skill Points): After being ragdolled, you gain temporary immunity to ragdoll effects, with a 40-second cooldown.

Don't compare Unyielding Bastion's two-point price against a standalone trait and forget the full investment to reach it. The chain costs 8 Skill Points total across all three traits, plus the stat thresholds. Ragdoll immunity is also not damage immunity. You still need to dodge, block, or disengage.

Best traits for melee builds

Melee builds in Clover RPG tend to revolve around Misdirect, and the trait system reflects that with a full chain of options branching from one attack.

The Misdirect chain

  • Liver Shot (25 Strength, 2 Skill Points): Misdirects deal 20% more damage. The clearest direct damage upgrade if Misdirect is a regular part of your offense.
  • Follow Through (20 Strength, 10 Agility, 2 Skill Points): Landing a Misdirect grants a brief speed boost for repositioning.
  • Deceptive Momentum (15 Strength, 15 Agility, 3 Skill Points): Landing a Misdirect lets you roll again, adding a defensive exit option.
  • Crippling Fakeout (35 Strength, 3 Skill Points): Landing a Misdirect slows the target, with a 15-second cooldown. Exact slow strength and duration aren't specified in current tooltips.

Together, Liver Shot, Follow Through, and Crippling Fakeout turn a successful Misdirect into a damage spike, a speed boost for you, and a slow for your opponent. That's a lot of value from one attack.

Critical Aerial

Requirements: Level 20, 6 Skill Points, and 50 Marks.

Critical Aerial makes your aerial M2 attack break enemy blocks. That's a meaningful role change for builds that regularly use aerial combat. The point cost is high, so buy it because aerial M2 fits your plan, not because the name sounds impressive.

Other melee-adjacent picks

  • Panic Attack (20 Strength, 15 Endurance, 2 Skill Points): When HP drops below 35%, you deal more Posture damage.
  • Exhaustion Strike (20 Strength, 40 Vitality, 2 Skill Points): Breaking an enemy's block resets their Resolve to 25%.
  • Blunt Alignment (50 Strength, 3 Skill Points): Misdirects have a chance to be multiplied, increasing their power.

Best traits for magic builds

Dirty Casting

Requirements: 30 Magic Power and 3 Skill Points.

Dirty Casting boosts your next spell by 15% more damage when your grimoire is hidden while outside of combat. Think of it as an opener bonus. It rewards preparing your first cast rather than improving every spell in a prolonged fight. Its value depends heavily on how often you get clean openers.

Glass Cannon

Requirements: 30 Intelligence, 30 Magic Power, and 3 Skill Points.

Glass Cannon grants 0.5% magic armor penetration for every point your Intelligence exceeds your Vitality. This creates a real stat trade-off. Pushing Intelligence higher improves the passive, but every point not going into Vitality reduces your health and toughness. Treat this as a specialist option for dedicated casters who are already comfortable playing fragile.

Bombmaker's Manifesto and Efficient Ignition

  • Bombmaker's Manifesto (Asami's quest, 3 Skill Points): Mana Bombs scale with your Intelligence stat.
  • Efficient Ignition (Bombmaker's Manifesto, 3 Skill Points): 25% chance of not consuming a bomb when using one.

If bomb-based offense is part of your kit, this two-trait chain makes the investment more sustainable.

Best utility and progression traits

Not every trait needs to improve combat. These picks earn their points through the activities you spend most of your time doing.

TraitRequirementsEffect
Pick-Me-UpLevel 15, 2 Skill PointsDrop 40% fewer items on death
Lucky MinerLevel 25, 3 Skill Points30% chance to yield double ore
Bargain Master2 Skill Points15% higher selling rates at merchants
TailwindDaeron the Darling quest, 1 Skill PointBroom flying speed +15%
Pacifist15 Vitality, 3 Skill Points, 200 MarksOut-of-combat HP regen doubled
Potion Savant20 Intelligence, 2 Skill PointsPotions 20% more effective
Mad Alchemist25 Intelligence, 10 Agility, 2 Skill PointsDrink potions 25% faster

Bargain Master improves selling rates, not purchase prices. Potion Savant and Mad Alchemist make sense together if potions are a regular part of your fights. If your inventory stays empty, spend those points elsewhere first.

Sixth Sense (50 Agility, 9 Skill Points) deserves a mention: it automatically evades the first attack that hits you when outside of combat. Nine Skill Points is a steep price, but the effect is genuinely strong for ambush-heavy situations.

Which traits should you unlock first?

The most efficient early path depends on your build direction, but here's a practical starting sequence:

  1. Weapons Expert at Level 5 (1 point). No reason to delay this.
  2. Mob Slayer once you hit 150 NPC kills (3 points). Pairs well with any PvE-focused early game.
  3. From there, follow your stat investment:
    • Casters: Arcane Rebound for Mana recovery.
    • Agility builds: Graceful Escape for a better dodge window.
    • Misdirect builds: Liver Shot, then Follow Through or Crippling Fakeout.
    • Defensive builds: Rapid Recovery into Iron Rebound into Unyielding Bastion.
    • Utility players: Pick-Me-Up and Bargain Master are cheap and broadly useful.

The best trait setup is the one you actually use. A passive that supports your regular attacks and solves a recurring problem will do more for your build than an impressive description attached to a condition you almost never meet.
