How do the three fished ship pieces work?
When you first spawn into Haunted Hollow, the game hands you the Gravedigger Rod. That rod is the only way to pull the Pumpkin Head, Horse Figurehead, and Anchor out of the water. Each has a fixed 1 in 40 chance per cast, and that number does not change based on bait or luck upgrades available in the shops. The 1 in 40 is attached to the piece itself, not to your gear.
At an average drop rate, expect roughly 40 casts for the first piece and around 120 total casts for all three if nothing lands early. That is the honest expectation before you start. Plan a long fishing session in Haunted Hollow rather than bouncing between zones, because casts in Fernshore or Dunehaven do nothing for this quest.

Haunted Hollow holds the majority of the set. The three fished pieces share the same method, so they are grouped. The three hidden objects each need a specific landmark.
Three hidden pieces in Hollow
Pumpkin Head, Horse Figurehead, and Anchor
All three drop from casting with the Gravedigger Rod at any fishing spot inside Haunted Hollow. There is no separate physical location for any of them. Keep casting until all three appear on the line. Because they share the same rod and the same zone, every cast has a chance at whichever fished pieces you still need.
Ship Wheel
Head to the stairs between the Upgrades shop and the Sell shop in Haunted Hollow and climb to the back of the mansion. Jump down into the river behind the building. The Ship Wheel is sitting near the spin wheel at the bottom, which makes it easy to miss if you are watching your footing on the way down rather than looking ahead.
Flag
Find the Halloween Merchant in Haunted Hollow and walk directly behind the shop. The Flag is on the far side of the back wall. Start from the merchant himself and keep moving past the front counter instead of stopping there.
Lantern
Climb the stairs in Haunted Hollow until you reach the Haunted Hollow board. Look over the edge of the platform toward the water drain below. The Lantern floats above the drain opening and glows enough to spot once you know the board is your reference point. It is the quickest of the three static Haunted Hollow pieces to grab.
Fernshore ship piece locations (2 pieces)
Fernshore is World 1 and holds two hidden objects. No rod, no casting. Both are reachable in under two minutes once you know the shops to use as anchors.
Spiked Rail
Go to the Sell Shop in Fernshore and walk behind it. Start climbing the mountain path that rises above the shop. The Spiked Rail appears on your left partway up the slope. Watch the hillside above the building rather than the shop front.
Throne Seat
The leaderboard boards in Fernshore stand to the right of the Mutation Dealer. Walk behind them and look between the two rocks at ground level. The Throne Seat sits low enough that running past at full speed puts it out of your sightline, so slow down once you clear the boards.
Dunehaven ship piece locations (2 pieces)
Dunehaven is World 2 and holds the final two pieces. Both are hidden objects and both are fast once you know which building to approach first.
Bat Sail
Go behind the Baits Shop in Dunehaven and walk straight into the narrow alleyway beyond it. Just past the tree, the Bat Sail is on your right. The alley is tight, so walk slowly rather than jumping along the walls where the piece can clip out of view.
Hull Plank
Head to the Enchant area in Dunehaven. A tree stands to the left of the Enchant platform. Walk around the trunk and the Hull Plank is directly behind it. The platform structure itself blocks the view from the front, so approach from the side.
How to claim the Hollow Grin ship
Once all 10 pieces are in your inventory, the turn-in is straightforward:
- Open your inventory and confirm every piece from the table above is present, including all three fished pieces.
- Travel to Haunted Hollow and find the Headless Horseman NPC.
- Talk to him and complete the quest to receive the Hollow Grin ship.
The Hollow Grin is a quest-exclusive reward. No shop sells it and no other method produces it. A set of 9 pieces leaves the quest open until the tenth arrives, so there is no partial reward for being close.
What is the fastest way to finish the ship piece quest?
The strategy depends on whether your remaining pieces are the hidden objects or the fished ones.
- Sweep all seven static pieces first. They are guaranteed finds near shops and paths and take minutes, not hours.
- Once the static pieces are done, commit every fishing session to Haunted Hollow. Casts elsewhere are wasted for this quest.
- Fish in one extended session rather than short bursts. The 1 in 40 chance is per cast, so only the total cast count matters.
- Use the fastest rod available to increase casts per minute, since more casts per session directly shortens the expected grind.
