Fisch just hit its second birthday, and the developers are not letting it pass quietly. The 2nd Anniversary Event dropped on October 3, 2026, bringing a limited-time bestiary, exclusive pools, and a rod that literally lights on fire as you fish. Whether you want the Candle Rod, the Cake Cruiser, or the Birthday Cake Halo, every reward runs through the same core loop: catch Anniversary fish, toss them into the Icing Pool, and watch the candles climb. Here is everything you need to know to clear the event before it disappears.
How does the 2nd Anniversary Event work?
The event is built around two connected systems: the Anniversary Bestiary and the Giant Cake Building at Moosewood. Your job is to catch fish from the Anniversary Bestiary, then return to the Giant Cake and toss each unique species into the Icing Pool at the base of the structure.
Every unique fish you submit lights one of the 10 candles on the first layer of the cake and unlocks a milestone reward. Tossing a fish you have already submitted still earns you Cupcake Bait and XP, but it will not advance the candle count or trigger a new milestone. Unique submissions only.
Fishing near the Giant Cake also gives you a slight luck boost toward catching global Anniversary items, so parking your boat close to Moosewood while grinding is worth the minor detour.
Anniversary Pools appear periodically across four ocean regions:
Roslit Bay
Forsaken Shores
Snowcap Island
Castaway Cliffs
Each pool features a swimming Birthday Leviathan and rare pool-exclusive species that you cannot catch anywhere else. Some Anniversary fish are also available as global catches, meaning you can hook them from any water in the game, but pool-exclusive species require you to be at an active pool.

On October 5 at 2:00 PM EST, a new variant began spawning in the pools, so the bestiary expanded slightly after the initial launch. Check which fish you still need before assuming your list is complete.
How to get the Candle Rod
The Candle Rod sits on top of the Giant Cake, right next to the Moosewood Dock. To claim it, you need to light all 10 candles on the first layer of the cake. Each candle corresponds to one unique Anniversary fish submitted to the Icing Pool, so you need at least 10 different species from the 2nd Anniversary Bestiary.
The process is straightforward: submit one new species, watch a candle ignite, repeat until all 10 are lit. The rod unlocks at the 11-fish milestone in the reward table (the 10 candles unlock it, and the table confirms it at count 11).
important
You need 10 unique fish species to light all 10 candles. Submitting duplicates only gives Cupcake Bait. Plan your fishing sessions around species you have not yet turned in.

The rod's passive is what makes it genuinely interesting. A wick at the top of the rod grows with each fish you catch. After five consecutive catches, the wick is fully lit. At that point, every cast has a 26% chance to apply the Birthday Mutation to your catch, which carries an x8 value multiplier. If the fish you reel in already has a Birthday Mutation, you also get a 65% progress multiplier on that catch. Keeping a streak alive is the fastest way to stack value during the event.
The official patch notes also mention you can "drop cake on lured fish for massive progress," so the rod has an active interaction beyond the passive streak mechanic.

What is the Happy2ndYear code?
The official patch notes included a free redemption code: Happy2ndYear. Redeem it as soon as possible since anniversary codes tend to expire when the event ends. For a full list of currently active codes, check the Fisch codes guide to make sure you are not leaving free resources on the table.
Tips for completing the Anniversary Bestiary fast
Track the pool timer. Pools spawn at XX:30 every hour across Roslit Bay, Forsaken Shores, Snowcap Island, and Castaway Cliffs. Missing a spawn means a full hour of downtime on pool-exclusive species.
Fish near Moosewood between pool windows. The passive luck boost for global Anniversary catches applies when you are near the Giant Cake, so idle fishing there is more efficient than fishing at random locations.
Submit immediately after each catch. Holding fish in your inventory does not help. Submitting each unique species as you catch it keeps your candle count moving and confirms which species you still need.
Keep your Candle Rod streak alive. Once you have the rod, five consecutive catches trigger the fully lit wick. Avoid abandoning sessions mid-streak since the 26% Birthday Mutation chance at x8 value is the best passive income the event offers.
If you are working through other areas of the game at the same time, the Fisch Boreal Pines update guide covers quest strategies and bestiary completion for that region, which pairs well with the Anniversary grind.
For players who want to push further into the game's rod collection, the Fisch wishing guide for limited rods walks through the Ancient Idol trials and the Ryusel encounter on Skycrest Island, which is a separate progression path worth starting once the Anniversary Event wraps.
