Maximum Output is the Domain Expansion for the Cursed Energy Discharge (CED) Cursed Technique in Jujutsu Zero, and it's the hardest-hitting move in the entire CED kit. Getting it unlocked takes more than just grinding Mastery, though. You need specific materials from a questline that's locked behind a level requirement most new players don't see coming. Here's exactly what to do.
What do you need to unlock Maximum Output?
Before touching the unlock menu, you need to have already obtained the Cursed Energy Discharge Cursed Technique through the CT gacha. From there, you'll grind quests to build CED Mastery and unlock the first three moves in order: Sky Beam, Granite Assault, and Max Discharge. Only after all three are unlocked does the Maximum Output slot become available.
The full cost to unlock Maximum Output is:
- 50 Mastery
- 100,000 Yen
- 1x Domain Fragment
- 3x Energy Core
- 3x Hair Gel
Mastery and Yen are straightforward. You'll likely have both covered by the time you've unlocked the earlier moves. The Domain Fragment, Energy Core, and Hair Gel are where things get grindy.
danger
You must be at least Level 700 to complete all the quests required for Energy Core and Hair Gel. The Ancient Sorcerer NPC marker only appears on the map at Level 500+, but the third quest (which has the best drop rates) requires you to be significantly higher to survive the mini-boss.
How to get a Domain Fragment in Jujutsu Zero
Domain Fragments are Special Grade items with low RNG-based drop rates. The primary method is farming and opening Crates. There's no guaranteed source, so expect to open a lot of them before one drops. This is often the longest part of the unlock process, so start farming Crates early rather than waiting until you have everything else ready.

How to get Energy Core and Hair Gel
Both materials come from the Ancient Sorcerer NPC, who stands on a wooden bridge in the centre of the map. His questline has three quests, and completing them gives you the Energy Core and Hair Gel you need.
Ancient Sorcerer quest breakdown
Quest 1 and Quest 2 each give you one guaranteed material, so you'll have 1 Energy Core and 1 Hair Gel after completing both. The remaining 2 Energy Cores and 2 Hair Gels come from repeating Quest 3, which has a 3% drop chance for Energy Core and a 2% drop chance for Hair Gel per run.
How many Quest 3 runs should you expect?
With a 3% drop rate for Energy Core and 2% for Hair Gel, you're looking at roughly 33 runs on average for each Energy Core and 50 runs on average for each Hair Gel, though RNG means your actual number will vary. Realistically, plan for a solid grinding session. Running with a group speeds things up if the boss has a respawn timer.
How to actually unlock Maximum Output after farming
Once you have all five materials plus the Yen and Mastery requirements met, open your Stats menu, navigate to the Mastery tab, and select the Maximum Output node under the Cursed Energy Discharge tree. Confirm the unlock and the Domain Expansion is yours.
