The Stolen Experiment Vault quest in Roblox Steal an Egg looks deceptively complicated when you first open the tracker and see two separate counters sitting at zero. There are 5 Vault Parts total: 2 Lost Parts hidden in specific biomes, and 3 Drone Parts that drop from a timed event. This guide covers every location, the drone farming strategy, and exactly what to do when you hit Claim.
How do you start the Stolen Experiment Vault quest?
Before any part hunting counts, you need to activate the quest. Travel to the Abyss Ocean biome (the 7th biome, sitting next to Volcano) and head toward the right-side rock wall. There's a small opening in that wall. Step inside and speak to the Escaped Experiment NPC, a small bunny character inside the cave.
That conversation opens the Stolen Experiment Vault panel, which displays two separate progress counters: Lost Parts 0/2 and Drone Parts 0/3. If your tracker shows nothing, this is the step you skipped. The quest does not register biome pickups until you've spoken to Escaped Experiment first.
important
The Abyss Ocean cave entrance is easy to walk past. Hug the right-side wall and look for a gap rather than a large door. The opening is small.

These two pickups are static. They sit in the same spot every server, so once you know the landmark, grabbing them takes under two minutes each.
Lost Part 1: Prehistoric biome
Head to the Prehistoric biome and navigate toward the sleeping T-Rex. The first Lost Part is tucked behind the T-Rex's head, in the grass and bush clearing just past it. The Guardian landmark in that same zone helps confirm you're in the right area.
Circle around to the back of the head until the Lost Vault Part interaction prompt appears, then collect it. Check your tracker immediately to confirm the Lost Parts counter moved to 1/2 before leaving the area.
tip
The pickup sits in the grass rather than directly on the dinosaur model. If the prompt isn't showing, move slowly around the full back of the head rather than checking just one angle.

Lost Part 2: Volcano biome
Travel to the Volcano biome and find the small volcano structure near the center of the zone. The part is not on the outside of the structure. You need to enter or climb the volcano and search the upper interior, specifically the section closest to the wall where the fire area is.
Players who only circle the exterior consistently miss this one. Once you're inside the upper section, the same Lost Vault Part prompt will appear. Grab it and verify the counter reads Lost Parts 2/2.

How do you get the 3 Drone Parts?
Drone Parts work differently from the Lost Parts. There's no fixed map location for any of them. They drop from Dr. Scramble Experiment drones that appear during a live event wave, typically around egg and nest areas across the biomes. The event cycles roughly every 30 minutes per server, but use the in-game server countdown rather than a stopwatch.
When the wave goes live:
Move toward egg and nest areas and look for the Dr. Scramble Experiment drones.
Attack drones with melee until they're defeated.
Collect any Drone Part that drops and check the 0/3 counter.
Keep farming through the same wave or wait for the next cycle until you reach Drone Parts 3/3.
Drops are not guaranteed per kill. One source notes that green or blue drones have a better drop chance than the common red ones, so prioritize those when you spot them during the wave.

What to do if a Vault Part isn't counting
A few things can cause the tracker to seem stuck:
Quest not started: Return to the Abyss Ocean cave and speak to Escaped Experiment. Pickups don't register without an active quest.
Wrong counter: The panel has two separate counters. A Drone Part won't move the Lost Parts counter and vice versa. Reopen the panel and read both numbers before assuming a pickup failed.
Static pickup missing: If a Lost Part prompt isn't appearing in the correct spot, try a fresh server. The Prehistoric and Volcano locations are fixed, but a server restart can resolve rare display issues.
Drone Part not collected: Defeating the drone is not enough. You must physically pick up the dropped part before it counts.
Once both counters are full (Lost Parts 2/2, Drone Parts 3/3), return to the Abyss Ocean cave and interact with Escaped Experiment again. Reopen the Stolen Experiment Vault panel, confirm both counters are maxed, and press Claim.
A completion message reading something like "Vault opened! The Scrambler is unlocked" confirms the quest is done, and the Scrambler appears in your inventory or gear slots. Seeing a world pickup is not the final step. The Claim button on the panel is what actually completes the quest.
tip
The Scrambler goes directly to your inventory after claiming. You don't need to find another pickup in the world after pressing Claim.
