How to fix Corruption in Saros ...

Corruption is one of the nastier status effects in Saros, and if you ignore it, you will die with far less health than you started with. The yellow bar creeping down your Integrity meter is not just cosmetic, it hard-caps how much you can heal, turning every subsequent fight into a tighter and tighter margin. The good news is that the game gives you multiple ways to fight back, and one of those ways actually turns Corruption into raw damage output.

What is Corruption and how does it work?

Corruption is a debuff that shrinks your maximum Integrity (health bar) from the top down. Each time a yellow Corruption projectile hits Arjun, the yellow bar grows longer and your effective health ceiling drops. The more hits you absorb without cleansing, the less room your healing has to work with.

Corruption only appears during the Eclipse phase of a biome, when Carcosa shifts into its more aggressive state and enemies begin firing those yellow projectiles alongside their standard blue ones. According to IGN's Saros wiki, if you have the Carcosan Modifier active that converts all incoming damage into Corruption damage, you will see the bar fill up far faster than normal.

Your Soltari Shield (hold R1) will block blue projectiles and charge your Power meter, but unblocked yellow hits go straight to Corruption. The system is designed to punish passive play and reward players who stay aggressive.

How to remove Corruption in Saros

There are three confirmed methods for cleansing Corruption, each tied to a different part of Arjun's kit. Two are available early, one requires progression into the fourth biome.

Method 1: Fire your Power Weapon

The primary and most accessible cleanse comes from your Power Weapon. Press L2 fully and then R2 simultaneously to fire it. Every shot consumes your Power meter and strips a portion of Corruption off the Integrity bar.

According to both Shacknews and Game Rant, this is the core Cleansing mechanic Housemarque built the Eclipse loop around. The intent is to keep you actively using your Power Weapon rather than hoarding charge.

The fastest way to refill your Power meter is to block blue projectiles with your Soltari Shield. After unlocking the Shield Amplifier ability from the Armor Matrix, you can also absorb yellow Corruption projectiles through your shield to generate Power charge, which creates a satisfying feedback loop: take Corruption hits on the shield, build Power, fire Power Weapon, cleanse Corruption.

Method 2: Cleansing Parry

As documented by IGN, progressing through the Armor Matrix skill tree unlocks an upgrade called Cleansing Parry. When active, landing a successful Parry on an enemy attack removes a portion of Corruption while simultaneously dealing a counterattack. This makes Parry a dual-purpose tool: crowd control and health recovery in one input.

Game Rant notes that Parry itself is unlocked through natural story progression in the fourth biome, Blighted Marsh. Before that point, Cleansing Parry is not available, so early runs lean entirely on Power Weapon cleansing.

Parry is specifically effective against Nova (red) projectiles, which cannot be dashed through or blocked by the shield. Parrying these removes Corruption and staggers the enemy, making it one of the better defensive moves in the game once you have it.

Method 3: Second Chance

IGN's wiki also lists Second Chance as a Corruption removal trigger. When Second Chance activates, it clears Corruption in addition to its primary survival function. This is more of a passive safety net than an active strategy, but it does mean that surviving a near-death situation gives you a partial reset on your Integrity ceiling.

Can you use Corruption as a weapon?

Yes, and this is where the system gets interesting. Game Rant notes that Corrupted weapons begin dropping in the later biomes. These weapons scale their damage output based on how much Corruption Arjun currently has built up. The more yellow on your Integrity bar, the harder they hit.

This creates a genuine risk-reward decision: cleanse constantly and stay healthy, or let Corruption stack and run a glass cannon build. Players who have mastered dodging enemy attacks can sustain high Corruption levels and deal significantly amplified damage with Corrupted weapons. It is a high-floor playstyle that rewards mechanical confidence.

Tips for managing Corruption efficiently

  • Never let your Power meter sit full during Eclipse. If you have charge, fire. Hoarding it means Corruption builds unchecked.
  • Block blue projectiles constantly with your shield to keep Power meter topped up, which feeds directly into more frequent Power Weapon cleansing.
  • After unlocking Shield Amplifier, absorbing yellow projectiles through the shield charges Power and prevents direct Corruption hits simultaneously.
  • Time Parries on Nova (red) projectiles once you have Cleansing Parry. These cannot be blocked any other way, so landing the Parry is both a defensive necessity and a free cleanse.
  • Do not ignore the Armor Matrix. Both Cleansing Parry and Second Chance require investment in the skill tree. The sooner you push into those nodes, the more cleanse options you have available.
