Silver Pines does not hand out its best perks for free. The 25 mementos scattered across Silver Pines are the difference between a Walker who reloads smoothly and dodges cleanly and one who dies in a tunnel because the stamina bar ran out at the worst possible moment. On top of that, 16 Memento Vessel Shards decide how many mementos you can equip at once, and you start with just one slot. This guide covers every memento, what it does, exactly how to get it, and all 16 shard locations.
What are mementos and how do they work?
Mementos are equippable perks tied to trinkets Walker finds across the map. Each one grants a passive bonus, from a 25% reload speed increase to a 20% chance for shots to pierce enemies. You equip them through the memento menu, and the number of slots you have depends on how many Memento Vessels you have built. Four Memento Vessel Shards combine into one vessel, which adds a slot. With all 16 shards collected and combined, you finish the game with five equip slots. Collect all 25 mementos and you unlock the Live ending.
All 16 Memento Vessel Shard locations
Every shard comes from shooting a wooden bird figurine that has wind chimes hanging beneath it. Four shards combine into one Memento Vessel, which adds a memento slot. The table below covers all 16.
| Shard | Location | How to reach it |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Outskirts | Walk through the underpass and keep left to the burnt-hands man's room. The figurine is inside. |
| 2 | Downtown | Cross the river and look on top of the sluice gate maintenance structure. |
| 3 | Downtown docks | Jump into one of the boats and shoot the figurine from the water. |
| 4 | Downtown | Shoot the rusted lock on the building at the very back of the city. The shard is inside. |
| 5 | Union Apartments | Inside a second-floor apartment. Shoot the vent up and to the right and climb through. |
| 6 | Town Hall | Crouch and crawl into the fireplace. |
| 7 | Church Hill Woods | Swim left past the lighthouse to reach the woods. |
| 8 | Saint Adjutor Parish Church | Shoot the bird hanging in the left confessional booth. |
| 9 | Cable car station | Go through the door east of the bell rack and shoot the figurine on the balcony. |
| 10 | Sheriff's Office | Shoot the vent grille in the basement storage room, climb through, and shoot the bird above. |
| 11 | Riverside dark tunnel | In the tunnel with the truck radio, look up above the enemy. |
| 12 | Riverside beach | The figurine hangs on the riverbank in Riverside. |
| 13 | Union Apartments (exterior) | Before going inside, break into the small shed on the left and shoot the bird in the dark. |
| 14 | Union Apartments stairwell | Between floors 2 and 3, smash the stairwell window, climb out, and go up the ladder. |
| 15 | Church Hill | Head northeast past the funeral home, jump the fence to its right, and climb down. |
| 16 | Thelend Broadcasting tunnel | As you go through the tunnel, head left and break the wall. The shard is on the other side. |
Once you have four shards, combine them in your inventory to build a Memento Vessel and unlock the next equip slot.

Which mementos are missable?
Several mementos are tied to boss fights or one-time events. These are the ones to watch:
- Corroded Iron Ball — Loot the tunnel boss immediately. Do not leave the area without it.
- Snake Earring — Check the deputy's body right after the boss fight at the Sheriff's Office.
- 8 Ball Gear Shift — Beat The Driver in Stage 1. The body despawns if you leave and return.
- Polaroid Negative — Take it from the flesh tree boss in the red door nightmare before moving on.
- Chipped Ceramic Bear — One source flags this as potentially missable if you skip the palm tree door room early. Return to it if you did not grab it on your first visit.

Silver Pines sits comfortably among the best recent adventure games for exactly this kind of layered collectible design: every trinket has a story, and the perks they grant are genuinely useful rather than decorative. Getting all 25 and burning them with Drew at the end for the Live ending is one of the more satisfying completionist runs available right now.
