Silver Pines is a horror Metroidvania that hides a lot of its power behind 25 collectible Mementos scattered across the eerie town of Wych Elm. These aren't just trinkets for completionists. Each one slots into Red Walker's perk system and can meaningfully change how fights and exploration feel, from boosting stamina to increasing gun rate of fire by 35%. Several are permanently missable, tied to boss kills or time-sensitive moments you can't revisit. This guide covers every location in the order you're likely to encounter them, with the tools you'll need and the perks you'll gain.
Why should you bother collecting all Mementos?
Mementos function as Silver Pines' passive progression layer. You equip them in slots, and each one applies a specific bonus to Red Walker. The catch: you start with limited slots, and expanding them requires finding Vessel Shards separately. So even if you're sitting on 10 Mementos, you can only use as many as your current slot count allows.
The perks aren't cosmetic. The Corroded Iron Ball cuts incoming damage by 10%, the Snake Earring pushes gun rate of fire up by 35%, and the Smooth Stone with a Hole adds 20% extra damage on headshots. Stack the right combination and the game's tougher encounters become significantly more manageable.

The Outskirts
Empty Matchstick Box — Once you have the shotgun, backtrack to the Miner Diner where the game begins. The shotgun lets you slash through a barrier blocking the stairs down to the staff room. The Memento sits downstairs.
Chipped Ceramic Bear — This one is missable and tied to the first Eddie Velvet dream sequence. After the dream, a light switch activates nearby. Turn it on, then immediately turn it back off. The Chipped Ceramic Bear appears on the sofa to the left. If you miss it here, try returning through the palm tree door later, but don't count on it. Perk: max stamina increase.
Corroded Iron Ball — Drops from the first boss in the tunnel. Search the body before leaving the arena. Perk: 10% damage reduction.
Downtown
Mended Tooth — Shortly after stepping off the ferry, find the door to the left near a standing enemy. The Memento is just inside.
Smooth Stone with a Hole — Requires collecting three bird statuettes hidden around town: one in the vet clinic, one past the digging man's mobile home, and one in the movie theater. Bring all three to The Quiet Hour Café and place them to unlock the hanging cage. Perk: headshots deal 20% extra damage.
Repaired Polaroid — A two-part Memento. The first half is in Eddie's guitar case inside the Grizzly Suite at the hotel, found very early and hard to miss. The second half is on a mirror in the backroom of the Rabbit Hole bar (accessible with the crowbar). Combine both pieces. Perk: healing speed from consuming Flatleaf herb increased by 50%.
V Guitar Pick — Return to the Union Building basement with the sledgehammer and smash through a wall. Expect several enemies to come out before you can grab it.
30 Days Sober Chip — Head to the Town Hall basement with the sledgehammer. Break through the wall near the furnace, clear the enemies, and pick up the Memento.
Worn Silver Buckle — The most involved Memento in the game. You need to open the Ship's Sealed Hatch in the south of Downtown. Find the manual on a jetty in Riverside (smash the wall with a crowbar or sledgehammer, or crouch under the wall near the movie theatre and swim). Back at the ship, use the manual to decode the 3-part hatch code: Door, Release the clamp, Activate. Drop in, stock up on ammo, and take the door left to fight a boss. The Worn Silver Buckle drops from that boss.
Faceless Coin — Accessible after entering the Sewers, which opens up the Gazette's lower levels. The Memento is located there.

Riverside
Badge 0013 — Inside the Sheriff's Department Cold Storage. Pull out the drawer on the right side, then use the crowbar to retrieve the badge from a corpse's mouth. Perk: the last shot before emptying a weapon deals 25% more damage.
Snake Earring — Drops from Deputy Roberts, the second boss, fought in the police station lobby. Check the body immediately after the fight. Perk: gun rate of fire increased by 35%.
Hula Figurine — Return to Dana's Auto Repair after getting the crowbar. Break through the wooden barrier, go left to the blue car, and loot the trunk. Perk: dodging uses less stamina.
Switchblade Cufflink — After returning to the original island via the ferry, use a crowbar or sledgehammer to break into a small room containing this Memento.
Rusted Spur — From a nearby save point, equip the drain cover remover, open the drain, climb down, and the Memento is waiting below.
Driftwood Stake — Head northeast of Riverside to the Exit 13 tunnel. Use the drain cover remover (the manhole key is found in the Town Hall) to drop into the sewers. Follow the path left through the tunnels until you find the Memento on a group of already-dead enemies. Perk: slashing weapons deal 15% more damage.
Sea Polished Glass Shard — Drops immediately after defeating the third boss. Move left as soon as you regain control. Perk: extended swimming.
Old Corsage — Requires the shovel. Head to the Cemetery and dig up the marked hole.
Dice Pair — Return to the Funeral Home basement with the sledgehammer. Smash the wall on the left side of the basement to find it.
Cracked Wrist Watch — Go to the top of the Town Hall with the crank. Set the clock to 10:06 (matching all other clocks in town). You may need to re-insert the crank after setting the time. When the tower chimes, head back inside and pull the wall-mounted candlestick that was previously inert. A secret door opens. The Memento is inside.
Damaged Compass — In the water area, climb on top of a shed and walk left. Swim left a short distance to find this Memento on a small bank.
Red Driving Glove — At the TV station, after getting the Stage 1 Key, look up and left to shoot out a vent. Climb through, then descend the ladder to find it.
8 Ball Gear Shift — Missable. At the Thelend Broadcasting Company, enter all three colour circles into the video camera, then activate only the blue one. The stage will turn red. Head to the Stage and defeat The Driver. The Memento drops from the body. Perk tied to this optional boss encounter.
The Polaroid Negative — Missable. Drops from the final boss's body. Don't skip the post-fight interaction.
Cat Collar — Probably the hardest to find. Near the sewers, jump over the railings into the water and swim left until you reach a platform. Walk in to access the vet's basement. Inside, a black cat is locked in a padlocked cage guarded by a dog. Kill the dog, then check the note upstairs in the vet's office for the code. The order is based on the felines' ages: 3819. Free the cat, grab the Collar.

How do Memento slots work?
You can only equip one Memento at a time until you find Vessel Shards and piece them together to unlock additional slots. Vessel Shards are their own collectible category, often hidden behind breakable walls or wind-chime puzzles. Prioritize grabbing them alongside Mementos so you're never sitting on a pile of perks you can't use.
For wind-chime Vessel Shards specifically: the Sluice Maintenance Dock piece is grabbed by shooting the bird figure from the chime with a revolver. The Storage Unit piece requires shooting the padlock, then breaking the chime with a melee weapon. The Mt. Siah Gondola Balcony piece is also melee. In Riverside, the Exit 13 Tunnel chime needs the revolver and a flashlight to even see it, and the Police Station Storage piece is behind a shootable vent in the basement.

Missable Mementos at a glance
Four boss-drop Mementos can be permanently lost if you leave the arena without checking the corpse: Corroded Iron Ball (first boss), Snake Earring (Deputy Roberts), 8 Ball Gear Shift (The Driver), and The Polaroid Negative (final boss). The Chipped Ceramic Bear has a specific window tied to the Eddie Velvet dream sequence. Make these five your priority checkpoints.

Silver Pines rewards the players who slow down and look carefully. The Memento system is the game's way of paying you back for that patience.
