Warframe Guide: How to Get All Citrine Prime Relics
Advertisement

Nitain Extract sits in its own awkward category in Warframe: it's not a drop you can grind by spamming a single node for an hour. You need it to craft Warframes, Archwings, and select weapons, and the game makes you work for it through specific systems rather than raw farming. The good news is that once you know which systems to target, getting a steady supply becomes straightforward.

What is Nitain Extract used for?

Nitain Extract is a crafting resource required for building certain Warframes, Archwings, and weapons in the Foundry. Because it doesn't drop from standard enemy kills or resource-rich tiles, many newer players hit a wall when a blueprint suddenly demands four or five of them. Knowing your sources in advance prevents that bottleneck entirely.

How to get Nitain Extract: all methods ranked

There are four reliable ways to obtain Nitain Extract. They vary significantly in efficiency, so it's worth understanding each before deciding where to spend your time.

1. Nightwave offerings (best method)

The fastest and most predictable route is the Nightwave store. Spending 15 Nightwave Credits gets you 5 Nitain Extract in a single transaction. That's a strong return for the credit cost, and the transaction is available whenever the Nightwave store is open.

Nightwave Credits come from completing Nightwave challenges, which refresh on daily and weekly schedules. Running as many challenges as possible keeps your credit balance healthy and means you can buy Nitain Extract in bulk when you need it, rather than scrambling before a build.

tip
Prioritize weekly Nightwave challenges over dailies. They award significantly more credits per time invested, which means more Nitain Extract purchases per session.

2. Ghoul Purge bounties

When the Ghoul Purge event is active on Earth, the Cetus bounty pool includes Nitain Extract as a possible reward. The Level 40-50 and Level 15-25 Ghoul Purge bounties both carry a 3.57% chance at Rotation A. Once you see Nitain Extract listed on a bounty stage's reward table, you can extract immediately after that stage completes without finishing the full bounty chain.

This method is event-gated, so it's not always available, but when Ghoul Purge is running it's one of the better supplementary sources.

3. Resource caches in Sabotage and Exterminate missions

Several mission nodes reward Nitain Extract when you find all three resource caches. The key detail is that you need the third cache (Rotation C) for Nitain Extract to appear in the reward pool. Opening only one or two caches locks you into Rotations A and B, which don't carry Nitain Extract on most nodes.

The missions worth running for this method are:

  • Void / Stribog (Sabotage, Level 20-25): 6.25% overall probability, 2.00% on Rotation C
  • Kuva Fortress / Dakata (Caches, Level 28-30): 2.00% on Rotation C
  • Sedna / Rusalka (Caches, Level 32-36): 2.00% on Rotation C
  • Pluto / Cypress (Caches, Level 34-38): 2.00% on Rotation C
  • Lua / Plato (Caches): 1.29% on Rotation C
  • Venus / Ishtar (Caches, Level 6-8): 0.67% on Rotation C
tip
Equip Animal Instinct or Loot Radar mods before running cache missions. Both reveal loot containers on your minimap, which dramatically cuts the time spent searching tiles for the third cache.

4. Gift of the Lotus alerts

Occasionally, Gift of the Lotus alert missions appear that reward Nitain Extract on completion. These are one-time completions, so each alert gives you a fixed amount and then it's gone. They're worth doing whenever they appear, but they're not something you can plan around or repeat.

5. Enemy drops (very low probability)

Two specific enemies have a chance to drop Nitain Extract directly: the Wolf of Saturn Six and the Zealoid Prelate. Both carry a 0.13% drop rate, which makes them extremely unreliable as a primary farming method. The Zealoid Prelate appears in the Derelict Emissary Assassinate mission. Treat these as bonus drops rather than a deliberate strategy.

What's the fastest way to get Nitain Extract?

Nightwave is the answer for most players. The 15-credit cost is low relative to what you earn from regular challenge completion, and getting 5 Nitain Extract at once is far more efficient than chasing 2% cache drops across multiple missions.

If Nightwave isn't currently active or you've spent your credits elsewhere, Void / Stribog is the best fallback. The Sabotage mission type is relatively short, the level range is accessible to mid-game players, and the 6.25% overall probability is the highest of any always-available cache node.

warning
Don't rely on Wolf of Saturn Six or Zealoid Prelate drops as your primary source. At 0.13%, you could run dozens of missions without seeing a single Nitain Extract. Use them as a tiebreaker when you're already in those missions for other reasons.

How do Warframe rotation rewards work for caches?

For any mission with resource caches, the rotation you land on depends entirely on how many caches you open:

  • Rotation A: Open 1 cache
  • Rotation B: Open 2 caches
  • Rotation C: Open all 3 caches

Nitain Extract only appears in Rotation C reward pools on the nodes listed above. Leaving a mission early after opening one or two caches will never yield Nitain Extract, no matter how many times you run it.

important
Reactor Sabotage missions work slightly differently, awarding a reward for each individual cache found rather than a single end-of-mission reward. This means you can pick up Nitain Extract mid-mission without needing all three.

Building your Nitain Extract stock efficiently

The practical approach is to run Nightwave challenges consistently every week, spend credits on Nitain Extract whenever your stock drops below ten, and use Void / Stribog cache runs to supplement during dry spells. Ghoul Purge bounties are worth running aggressively whenever the event is active since the 3.57% Rotation A rate is competitive with dedicated cache farming.

If you're working toward a specific Warframe build and need other resources alongside Nitain Extract, check the guide on how to get Narin fast or the Entropic Kuva farming guide for parallel farming strategies that keep you productive between Nightwave resets.
