Catastrophe's Aftermath is one of the longer faction quests in Windrose, tied to the Buccaneers storyline. It picks up after the tragedy at Tortuga, where pirates ransacked the settlement, killed the governor, and left survivors scrambling. Now those refugees are starving, and Charlie Sharpe needs your help to keep them alive and deal with a new threat closing in. According to Destructoid, you ideally want to be at character level 7 before starting this quest, though you can attempt it earlier if you're prepared for a harder fight.
The quest breaks down into seven distinct objectives. Miss any step and the next one won't unlock, so follow this in order.
info
If you've already been running the Buccaneers faction quest, you'll recognize Charlie Sharpe from that storyline. The two quests share characters, so completing Buccaneers first gives useful context.
Full quest objective list
Here's every objective you need to clear before the quest wraps:
- Retrieve supplies from the marked ship
- Bring the supplies to Charlie Sharpe at the refugee camp
- Talk to Doctor Galen about medicine
- Collect 15 bundles of Healing Herbs and return them to Galen
- Bring the medicine back to Charlie Sharpe
- Eliminate Jim Godart
- Return to Charlie Sharpe to claim your reward
How to retrieve supplies from the ship
Once you accept the quest, your map will mark a specific ship. Head there and expect a fight. The ship is overrun by drowned enemies, and you'll need to clear them out before you can loot anything. Don't rush the looting phase before the area is clean, as the drowned will interrupt you mid-collect.
After the enemies are down, grab all the supplies you can find on the ship. The quest marker updates once you've looted the relevant items, so you'll know when you're done. From there, follow the marker to the refugee camp and hand the supplies to Charlie Sharpe.

Clear the drowned before looting
How to get 15 Healing Herbs for Doctor Galen
Charlie will point you to Doctor Galen after receiving the supplies. Galen confirms he can make the medicine but needs ingredients first: specifically, 15 bundles of Healing Herbs.
Here's where this objective can slow people down. There are two reliable ways to get the herbs:
- From your stash: If you've been exploring and hoarding materials, check your inventory first. You may already have some.
- Ancient Containers and enemy drops: According to Deltia's Gaming, searching Ancient Ruins scattered across the map is the most consistent method. Chests in these locations average around 3 Healing Herbs each, so visiting roughly 2 ruins should cover the full 15.
warning
Don't waste time combing random areas of the map without a plan. Ancient Ruins give the best herb density. Head straight to those locations first.
Once you have all 15, return to Galen. He'll craft a care package of medicine on the spot.
How to defeat Jim Godart
After delivering the medicine to Charlie Sharpe, he reveals that Jim Godart, described as one of Blackbeard's associates, is planning to attack the refugees. Intel on Godart's location was provided by Long Ben. Charlie asks you to deal with him before he can act.
Follow the quest marker to Godart's camp. Both sources are clear on one thing: this camp is not a solo encounter you can brute-force. The area is spread across a hillside with multiple sections, each packed with pirates.
Approach strategy:
- Work through the camp section by section, clearing pirates as you go
- Avoid rushing uphill all at once, which groups enemies into a single chaotic fight
- Jim Godart himself uses a ranged weapon. If you want to avoid getting into close range, a gun works well here
- The most effective method documented in the Destructoid walkthrough: isolate Godart from his crew, fire at him, then retreat. He'll follow you, and a few more shots will finish the fight
- You only need to kill Godart to complete the objective. Any additional fighting beyond that is optional
danger
Godart's crew will not despawn after you kill him. If you're low on health and resources, consider disengaging from the remaining pirates once the boss is down.
Quest rewards: what do you earn?
Once Godart is dead, head back to Charlie Sharpe. He'll acknowledge the job is done, noting that there would have been a proper feast if the governor were still alive. You then receive your rewards.
Note that the two sources list slightly different reward amounts. Based on cross-referencing both:
The 200 Piastre and 10 Letters of Favor are confirmed by both Destructoid and Deltia's Gaming. The 100 XP and Delicious Meal Set decoration are documented by Deltia's Gaming specifically.
info
Letters of Favor are faction currency used to progress your standing with the Buccaneers. Stacking these early makes a noticeable difference in later faction quest unlocks.
