Silver Ingots stay completely hidden until you hit a specific story checkpoint. You need to take down Thomas Richards, Blackbeard's captain, who appears as the boss fight at the end of the Revenge is Best Served Cold quest. This is the fourth main story quest. Once Richards falls, you get a Key Discovery: Silver Ingots notification, and the resource starts spawning across the world.
There is no workaround here. Attempting to find Silver Ingots before this point will come up empty, so prioritize pushing through the main story to this quest before farming.

How to get Silver Ingots in Windrose
Once unlocked, Silver Ingots come from three main sources. Each has a different reliability level, so understanding all three lets you build a consistent farming loop.
Buy from vendors
The most reliable method is purchasing directly from the Tortuga Goods Seller or the General Goods Buyer. Both sell Silver Ingots for 20 Piastres each. The price is reasonable, and you can also sell Silver Ingots back for the same 20 Piastre value if you end up with surplus.
The catch is that vendor stock is limited. You cannot buy unlimited quantities from a single trader, so vendor purchases work best as a supplement to other farming rather than your only source.
Loot Ancient Ruins chests
Exploring islands in the Coastal Jungle biome will turn up Ancient Ruins marked on your map. These ruins contain chests that have a solid chance of holding Silver Ingots. As you push into new archipelagos, checking every ruin chest is one of the most consistent free methods for stocking up.

Destroy and salvage pirate ships
Taking down pirate ships on the open sea drops ship salvage that can contain Silver Ingots. Higher-rarity salvage has a better drop rate, and higher-level pirate ships are more likely to drop Silver Ingots than weaker targets. If you are confident in your ship combat, hunting pirate vessels is the fastest volume farming method available.
Silver Ingots also appear in high-rarity floating barrels and standard ship salvage around the world, though these are more luck-dependent than the methods above.
What are Silver Ingots used for in Windrose?
Silver Ingots are the primary material for jewelry crafting and upgrading. The stat boosts jewelry provides have a direct impact on your combat performance, making Silver Ingots a resource you will need consistently once you move past the early game.
Before you can craft any jewelry, you need to build the Jewelry Table itself. The recipe requires:
- 3x Silver Ingots
- 5x Foothills Iron Ingots
- 10x Wood
From there, Silver Ingots feed into all jewelry crafting recipes and are also needed to upgrade the table further. Building the Jeweler's Bench and Reagent Table both require Silver Ingots as core materials.
Should you buy or farm Silver Ingots?
The honest answer is both. Vendor stock refreshes and 20 Piastres per ingot is not expensive, but you cannot rely on vendors alone given their limited supply. The best approach is to run Ancient Ruins on islands you explore naturally, fight pirate ships during normal sailing, and top up from vendors when you are short for a specific craft.
Once you are regularly engaging with mid-game content, Silver Ingots stop being a bottleneck and become a routine material. The initial unlock is the real hurdle.
