The Secret of the Golden Helmet is one of those quests that Aniimo never tells you about. No quest marker, no journal entry, nothing on the map. You can finish the entire Russet Highlands region and walk straight past it without realizing what you missed. The catch: it is the only way to unlock the Mountain Woods form of both Helmut and Rookey, and those forms gate an evolution line you cannot access any other way.
What you need before heading out
Because this scene plays out exactly once, showing up unprepared wastes it. Sort out the following before making the trip:
- An Aniimo with the Cloak mobility skill in your party (more on which ones qualify below)
- A stack of Aniipods, ideally higher-grade ones, for the Helmut that appears when the scene triggers
- A battle-ready team, since the capture encounter starts the moment you interact with the helmet
- Fast travel access to the First Sight Sanctum waypoint in Russet Highlands
The Cloak requirement is the only real obstacle here. If you already have a Wisptis, you are ready to go right now.
Where to find the Golden Helmet
Fast-travel to First Sight Sanctum and move a short distance west. The altar sits at roughly (-597, 1628), tucked behind a large tree on a small ledge. Glide down the nearby cliff and follow the path past the tree to reach it.
Three named Helmuts stand around a pedestal holding the Golden Helmet: Onlooking Helmut, Watchful Helmut, and Devoted Helmut. The Devoted Helmut is the one that matters. Walk up as a human and it blocks you outright. Twining with a standard Helmut does not help either. The guard turns you away regardless of which regular Helmut form you use, so a disguise is not the answer.

Three families carry the Cloak mobility skill. All forms within each family work.
Wisptis is the fastest to get. Fulmintis requires the Advanced Edition, so skip it unless you already have one.
How to complete the Secret of the Golden Helmet
Step 1: Talk to the Onlooking and Watchful Helmuts
Before going invisible, Twine with a regular Helmut you have caught (the area has plenty of Basic and Snowfield Helmuts wandering around). Walk up to the Onlooking Helmut and Watchful Helmut and talk to both. They confirm that the Golden Helmet hides a powerful secret, and that the Devoted Helmut will not let anyone near it. This context is optional for completing the quest but worth doing for the full picture.

Step 2: Switch to your Cloak Aniimo and go invisible
Open your Aniimo menu, swap to your Cloak carrier, Twine with it, and activate the Cloak skill to enter the Cloak State. Do this before you get close enough for the Devoted Helmut to react. Being invisible is the condition that lets you bypass the guard entirely.
Step 3: Interact with the pedestal
Walk up to the Golden Helmet while invisible and select the "Sneak it away!" prompt. The three onlookers stay put. The helmet drops its disguise.
Step 4: Catch the Mountain Woods Helmut
The Golden Helmet reveals itself as a Helmut (Mountain Woods Form). A capture encounter starts immediately. Use your best Aniipods here rather than saving them. This is a one-time spawn, and the Mountain Woods form registers in the Aniilog as No. 061 once caught. Completing the capture closes the scene and unlocks new spawns in the region.
What unlocks after completing the quest?
Catching the Mountain Woods Helmut triggers two new permanent spawns in Russet Highlands:
Both sites sit within Russet Highlands, so farming extras for evolution material is straightforward once the quest is done.
Mountain Woods evolutions and requirements
The Mountain Woods Helmut shares the same base stats, combat skills, and innate skills as a standard Helmut. The difference is cosmetic and evolutionary. From level 45, it branches into two separate evolution paths:
- Mountain Woods Pawney: requires completing the Sword of Bravery quest first.
- Mountain Woods Rookey: requires the Unwavering Rampart passive talent, then defeating an opponent by dealing damage specifically through Counter in Ballistic Guard (Defense Mode). Unwavering Rampart unlocks at Trailblazer 1 via Elite Training and is exclusive to Rookey.
For reference, the Rookey (Mountain Woods Form) is a Stage 3 BREAK role creature with 100 HP, 90 Attack, 100 Defense, 105 BP Attack, 90 Magic Attack, 70 Magic Defense, and 75 EP Regen. Its element is Dark at level 3. Releasing one returns 2 Growth Flowers, and reporting it pays 100 Credits.
The evolution requirements mean you cannot just grind to level 45 and pick a path. The Sword of Bravery quest and the Unwavering Rampart unlock are separate tasks, so plan ahead if you want both forms.
