Arc Raiders lead admits putting ...

The Riven Tides update dropped a flying menace called the ARC Turbine into Arc Raiders, and it does not mess around. This thing floats across the sky looking almost peaceful, then the moment you fire at it without knowing what you're doing, it unloads proximity mines, homing missiles, and arcing lightning in every direction. The good news: there's a specific weak point, and once you know the pattern, the fight becomes manageable. Here's everything you need to bring one down and collect the Turbine Compressor it drops.

What is the ARC Turbine in Arc Raiders?

The ARC Turbine is a brand-new enemy type added to Arc Raiders with the Riven Tides update. According to both Deltia's Gaming and Insider Gaming's coverage of the update, it resembles an industrial turbine, uses that turbine-like design to generate and launch electrical attacks, and is significantly tankier than most other ARC threats you've faced before. Shooting it while it's airborne is essentially a waste of ammo — its armor absorbs most of the damage, and its defense systems will punish you for trying.

The Turbine's primary loot drop is the Turbine Compressor, which is a required item for the Avian Alarm Project. So if you're working through that quest, you have no choice but to learn this fight.

Where do you find the ARC Turbine?

Turbines don't have a fixed spawn location on any specific map, and they aren't tied to a particular Map Condition. What both sources confirm is that they only appear once a match has been running for at least 15 minutes. That's a meaningful detail — you need to survive long enough for one to spawn, and then you're racing against the clock to find it, fight it, and extract.

The arrival is hard to miss. The Turbine enters the map from above like a meteor, with a loud re-entry sound and a visible descent trail. Once you hear or see that, track its landing point and move toward it. They're large enough that spotting them on the horizon is straightforward. After it finishes patrolling an area, it flies off to another zone, so don't take too long getting there.

How to destroy the ARC Turbine

The entire fight revolves around one mechanic: the Turbine's landing phase. Here's the pattern broken down step by step.

Step 1: Wait for it to land

Do not engage the Turbine while it's airborne. Its armor is too thick to deal meaningful damage from the outside, and its defense systems are active in the air. Specifically, according to Insider Gaming, the Turbine deploys the following while flying:

  • Proximity mines scattered in a wide perimeter that detonate on contact
  • Airborne missiles that drop lightning strikes on your position
  • Homing missiles that track you before detonating

Find nearby cover and wait. Patience is the whole game here.

Step 2: Target the spinning canisters

When the Turbine lands, it sets down on three legs and opens its core. Inside, you'll see three rapidly spinning yellow canisters visible through the slits at its base. These are the weak point. Per Deltia's Gaming, you have a short window to land roughly 4 to 5 shots before the Turbine takes off again. Make every shot count.

According to Insider Gaming, Hullcrackers have been found to deal strong damage against the canisters. Deltia's Gaming recommends the Anvil as another solid option, since it fires multiple rounds without needing to reload mid-window, which matters a lot when your damage window is only a few seconds.

Step 3: Survive the lightning attack

After you land your shots, the Turbine lifts off and enters its attack phase. It uses the opening at the top of its body to lob grenades upward, which then split into multiple lightning bolts raining down on the area. The spread is erratic enough that you can't reliably dodge it in the open — get behind solid cover and wait it out.

Step 4: Repeat until it's down

Once the lightning phase ends, the Turbine will land again. Repeat the cycle: rush your shots on the canisters, retreat to cover, survive the lightning, and go again. The Turbine is tanky, so expect several full cycles before it goes down. Consistency beats aggression here.

Both sources point toward the same core logic: you need a weapon that deals high damage fast, because your window to actually hurt the Turbine is short. Slow-firing or reload-heavy weapons waste the window. Bring something that lets you dump damage quickly.

What does the ARC Turbine drop?

Defeating the Turbine rewards you with a Turbine Compressor. This is the primary reason most players will be hunting Turbines, as it's a required item for the Avian Alarm Project quest. Outside of that specific use, it's a notable loot drop from one of the game's harder encounters.
