The Shrouded Sky update in Arc Raiders introduces new ARC threats tied directly to Project progression. One of the most important materials added in this update is the Comet Igniter, a required item for advancing the Weather Monitor System Project.
This guide explains how to get the Comet Igniter, where to find Comets, and the best way to take them down without wasting time or gear.
What Is the Comet Igniter Used For?
The Comet Igniter is a Project item needed to progress through the Weather Monitor System. Like other multi-stage Projects in Arc Raiders, this system requires specific ARC components collected during raids.
Without the Comet Igniter, progression will stall at later stages. Farming Comets becomes mandatory for players who want to fully complete the Weather Monitor System and unlock its rewards.
How To Get Comet Igniter in Arc Raiders
The only way to get a Comet Igniter is by defeating a Comet ARC unit. It does not appear as random ground loot and cannot be crafted. It is a direct drop from the enemy itself.
However, there is an important condition. The Comet must be destroyed before it self-destructs.
Comets are aggressive surface units that rush toward Raiders once they detect a target. If they get too close, they trigger a seismic explosion. When this happens, the Comet Igniter is destroyed along with the unit, leaving nothing to loot.

To secure the drop consistently, players should focus on high burst damage and early engagement. Heavy weapons like the Ferro or Anvil are strong choices because they can remove large chunks of health quickly. Mid- to long-range positioning is critical. Letting a Comet close the gap almost always leads to shield damage and a wasted farming attempt.
Squads can melt Comets quickly with coordinated fire, while solo players should prioritize clear sightlines and enough space to reposition if the unit begins its charge.
After the Comet is eliminated before detonation, loot its remains to obtain the Comet Igniter. Extraction is still required to secure the item.
Where To Find Comets
Comets spawn on most maps in Arc Raiders, but there is one major exception: Stella Montis.
Because Comets enter the map by crashing down from orbit, they require open sky access. The enclosed and indoor-heavy layout of Stella Montis prevents them from spawning there.

On other maps, Comets patrol surface areas after their orbital impact. Players may occasionally witness the crash-landing event, similar to other descending ARC units like Wasps and Hornets. More often, they are encountered already roaming outdoor zones.
Comets do not spawn inside buildings. Players specifically farming Comet Igniters should remain outdoors and focus on open terrain where patrol routes are active.
Tips for Farming Comet Igniters
Farming Comet Igniters becomes more efficient with proper positioning and weapon choice.
Use high-damage weapons that can eliminate the Comet quickly. Avoid tight interiors where escape routes are limited. Engage early before the unit gains full momentum toward the player.
Maintaining distance is the most important factor. If the Comet begins its final rush, reposition immediately rather than trying to tank the blast.
Squads should coordinate focus fire to prevent detonation. Solo players should fight in open areas with room to retreat.
Planning extraction is also important. Securing the Comet Igniter means nothing if the raid fails before evacuation.
