DragonSword Awakening: Fast Travel Guide

The Shadowed Woods is one of the more rewarding regions in DragonSword: Awakening, but it sits behind a gate that trips up a surprising number of players. The gate isn't a boss fight or a gear check. It's a short quest called Eona's Legacy, and the whole thing hinges on one mechanic the game doesn't explain clearly: you need fire damage to clear a web-covered statue. Miss that detail and you'll be swinging at webs indefinitely with zero progress.

Where do you find Alvwyn to start Eona's Legacy?

The quest begins east of the Meadows of Beginning. Head toward the eastern edge of that zone and look for an NPC named Alvwyn standing near a large statue wrapped in thick webs. He's hard to miss once you're in the right area, but players who rush past the tree line without checking the path often walk right by him.

Talk to Alvwyn to trigger the start of Eona's Legacy. He'll describe the statue and the strange barrier covering it. That conversation is your green light to start working on the puzzle.

important
You must speak with Alvwyn first before attacking the webs. Skipping straight to the statue won't register the quest as active, and the puzzle completion won't trigger properly.

How to burn the webs off the statue

This is where most players stall. The webs covering the statue are immune to physical damage. Standard melee swings, physical arrows, and non-elemental skills do nothing. You need a fire-element attack to ignite them.

Your options:

  • Equip a Fire Bow if you have one in your inventory
  • Use any fire-element combo or skill from your current character
  • Swap to a party member with innate fire abilities if your active character lacks fire damage

Once you have fire equipped, attack the statue continuously until every section of webbing burns away. The key word is every section. Leaving even a small patch intact at the base or top of the statue prevents the quest from advancing. Alvwyn won't have new dialogue until the statue is fully revealed.

tip
If you don't have a fire weapon on hand, check your roster for a character with elemental fire skills. Swapping party members costs nothing and saves you a trip back to a vendor.

What happens after the webs are cleared?

Once the statue is fully exposed, return to Alvwyn and start another conversation. This second dialogue exchange confirms to the game that the puzzle is solved. A short cutscene plays immediately after.

Let the cutscene finish completely. Skipping it can leave the map boundary in a locked state, which is a common reason players report the Shadowed Woods still showing as inaccessible after clearing the webs. The game uses that cutscene window to load the new region geometry.

When the cutscene ends, the Shadowed Woods unlocks permanently on your world map.

Troubleshooting: why isn't the puzzle working?

If you've burned the webs and nothing is happening, run through this checklist before assuming it's a bug.

If the webs refuse to ignite despite using fire damage, fast-travel to a nearby camp and return to the area. This resets local entity spawns and typically resolves any rendering glitch that prevents the webs from responding to attacks.

warning
Don't skip the post-puzzle cutscene. It's the most common reason players complete the puzzle correctly but still can't enter the Shadowed Woods.

What do you get for completing Eona's Legacy?

The reward is access to the Shadowed Woods region itself. That means new enemy types, side quests, rare crafting resources, and story content tied to the forest zone. It's a meaningful chunk of the game's mid-progression content, so the short time investment in Eona's Legacy pays off quickly.

The quest itself is one of the shorter progression gates in the game. From finding Alvwyn to watching the final cutscene, the whole thing takes under 10 minutes once you have fire damage available.

Build a stronger foundation before heading in

The Shadowed Woods introduces tougher enemies than the Meadows of Beginning, so arriving underprepared will cost you. If your characters need work before pushing into the new zone, the DragonSword: Awakening beginner's guide covers progression, hero unlocks, gear crafting, and the Karma system in detail. It's worth a read before committing to the forest.

For everything else in the game, the full DragonSword: Awakening guide collection has you covered.
