Weapon crafting in FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE opens in Chapter 6 after you complete Forger of Wills, a side quest available starting in Chapter 5. Bring Adamantite to Aileen, then choose the party member whose weapon you want her to make.

With eight Adamantite pieces to find and one crafted weapon available per character, your main decision is who gets upgraded first. Sakura's Roselia is the strongest starting recommendation if you use her, thanks to its opening magic buffs. Other crafts offer damage reduction, stronger healing, or an early action instead.

How do you access weapon crafting?

Start with Forger of Wills in Chapter 5

Visit Dilmagia, the Machinopolis, and speak to the Gossiping Girl near the city entrance. She is the starting point for the quest labeled Forger of Wills, which becomes available in Chapter 5.

The unlock sequence is:

  1. Speak to the Gossiping Girl in Dilmagia.
  2. Complete Forger of Wills.
  3. Advance the main story into Chapter 6.
  4. Obtain Adamantite and submit it to Aileen.
  5. Select the character who will receive a crafted weapon.

Completing Forger of Wills handles the side-quest requirement, but you still need to reach Chapter 6 before crafting becomes available.

How do recipes and materials work?

Your character choice determines the weapon

Aileen prompts you to choose a character after you hand over Adamantite. Each party member has a specific crafted weapon: choosing Rain, for example, produces Save the Vermillion, while choosing Lasswell produces Shisui.

That makes the recipient the important choice. You are selecting a character-specific upgrade with its own stats and effect, rather than choosing a general-purpose weapon for the whole party.

You can start before collecting the full set

You can commission a weapon once you meet the unlock requirements and have Adamantite. Collecting all eight pieces is a completion goal, not a requirement for your first craft.

For the collection route, use the Adamantite locations and crafted weapons guide. Decide on your first recipient before heading back to Aileen so the material immediately serves a party member you use.

How should you compare crafted equipment?

Compare the effect alongside the attack stats

Roselia has 204 magic attack, but its opening buffs are what make it such a strong first choice for Sakura. Concentrate doubles magic damage for three turns, while Sage's Eye increases the stagger rate of magic attacks to 1.5 times for four turns.

Caelum Renatum, Jake's crafted weapon, has 222 physical attack. It also raises Luck by 8 at the start of battle and restores 2% of maximum MP when a standard attack deals damage. Those are different benefits, so a single attack number cannot tell you which craft your party needs first.

Check when the effect actually applies

Roselia's bonuses have separate durations. Concentrate lasts three turns, while Sage's Eye lasts four, so the extra magic damage expires before the stagger bonus does.

Caelum Renatum has a different condition: its MP recovery requires a standard attack that deals damage. If you are choosing it specifically for MP recovery, that trigger matters as much as the 2% return.

Should you save Adamantite for later?

Save Adamantite for a specific recipient, not simply because crafting materials feel too valuable to spend. Aileen's weapons are among the strongest equipment available, and Roselia's opening buffs or Elysium's healing bonus can give an active party member an immediate benefit.

The useful distinction is your crafting order. There are eight Adamantite pieces to find and eight character-specific weapons to make. Upgrade a character you use first, then plan the next craft around another party member's needs.

For example, Save the Vermillion is a sensible priority if reducing Rain's incoming damage matters more to your current setup than increasing Sakura's opening magic damage. Its 20% reduction applies to both physical and magic attacks.

Is crafting better than buying equipment?

Before Chapter 6, plan around other equipment

Aileen's crafting does not open until Chapter 6. For gearing before that point, use the early-game weapons and equipment guide while you work toward Forger of Wills and the story requirement.

After the unlock, compare the full replacement

Use Aileen's weapon as a benchmark when considering another equipment purchase. Compare the relevant attack stats, then check what happens to the crafted weapon's effect if you replace it.

For Fina, that means considering Elysium's 20% healing-magic potency bonus alongside its 162 magic attack and 141 Sanctity. For Rain, Save the Vermillion's 20% damage reduction belongs in the comparison alongside its 179 physical attack. A higher attack value answers only part of the equipment question.

What should you prioritize before and after crafting unlocks?

Before Chapter 6: complete the prerequisite

Your crafting priority in Chapter 5 is Forger of Wills. Finish that side quest, then continue the main story into Chapter 6 so you can use Adamantite when you are ready to commission a weapon.

After the unlock: favor your active party

Start with Roselia if Sakura is a regular party member. Its doubled magic damage during the first three turns gives you a clear reason to prioritize it.

These opening-buff weapons are also strong early commissions for their respective users:

  • Lasswell, Shisui: Best for a party using Lasswell, because it grants Hone Senses and Placidity for five turns at battle start. It has 197 physical attack and 148 magic attack.
  • Lid, Mechabo Hammer SUPER: Best for getting Lid an opening action, because it grants Overclock and lets her act first at the start of battle.
  • Nichol, Codex Providentiae: Best for an opening setup with Nichol, because it lets him act first and grants Tactic: Fluid Warfare for three turns.

Skip these as your first craft if their users are not part of the party you rely on. Their opening effects are the reason to choose them, so the recipient needs to see combat.

Later commissions: fill specific needs

Once your initial priorities are covered, choose the next recipient by effect. Archwitch Fina's Abyss extends debuffs and status ailments she inflicts by two turns, making it a useful craft when you want that longer duration.

Elysium is the targeted choice for Fina's healing, while Caelum Renatum offers Jake its standard-attack MP recovery. You do not need to force every remaining craft into the same damage-first ranking.

Common mistakes

  • Stopping after Forger of Wills: Completing the side quest is only part of the unlock. You must also reach Chapter 6.
  • Choosing by attack alone: Save the Vermillion reduces physical and magic damage taken by 20%, a benefit its attack stat does not describe.
  • Treating opening buffs as permanent: Roselia's Concentrate lasts three turns, and Sage's Eye lasts four.
  • Expecting every Jake attack to recover MP: Caelum Renatum's recovery specifically requires a standard attack that deals damage.

Pro tips

  • Choose the recipient before submitting Adamantite. Aileen's character-selection prompt determines the weapon you receive.
  • Separate your first craft from your completion plan. Prioritize an active character now, then work toward all eight weapons.
  • Read paired buff durations separately. Shisui grants both of its opening buffs for five turns, while Roselia's two buffs expire on different turns.

Which weapon should you craft first?

Roselia is the strongest starting recommendation if you use Sakura. It combines 204 magic attack with three turns of Concentrate and four turns of Sage's Eye. If Sakura is not part of your regular party, prioritize a relevant weapon for a character you use instead.

Are there crafting trophies?

How should you compare a craft with other endgame weapons?
