Genshin Impact 7.0 introduces Snezhnaya as one of the most puzzle-heavy regions the game has ever shipped, and 'In the Dwelling of Life' sits right at the center of it. This is a major World Quest that unlocks one of the Eye of Graeae pieces and hands you the Gunstock blueprint as a bonus. It spans seven distinct sections, mixes TPS combat with environmental puzzles, and has a handful of moments that will stop you cold if you go in blind.
How do you start In the Dwelling of Life?
Head to the Statue of the Seven located southwest of Morepesok City. Morepesok City itself sits west of the Central Station on the Snezhnaya map. Activate the statue to trigger the quest, then follow the marker toward the blocked mine entrance nearby.
Part 1: A Sprout Without a Gardener
At the blocked mine, use the Eye of Graeae to dismantle the Grappling Gun. This launches the nearby cart directly into the cave entrance, clearing the obstruction. Enter the abandoned tunnel, then craft a new Grappling Gun on the hook mounted to the left wall. The latch releases and you can push further inside.
You'll find an unconscious girl on the floor. Talk to her, then escort her through the tunnel until you reach Okurov. The pacing here is slow by design, so don't rush past the dialogue.

Part 2: Transplanted From "Yesterday to Tomorrow"
From Okurov, the quest sends you to the assembly hall. At the marked window, craft another Grappling Gun to force it open, then climb through. Pull the lever behind the counter to open the gate for the girl, then head upstairs to the roof and use the lever there to open the next door for her. Follow her back downstairs.
She disappears at a certain point, leaving you trapped in a restricted zone. Turn right and trace the mysterious force shield along its edge. You're looking for a waterfall with slimes nearby. The opening in the barrier sits just past those slimes. Following the water flow is the fastest way to navigate if the barrier confuses you.
The next area spawns several Leshy enemies. Defeat them using Stellar Glimmer reactions if you have the right setup, then continue following the girl. You'll eventually fall into a cavern where elemental abilities stop functioning entirely. At this point the Eye of Graeae activates TPS mode, shifting the combat style for the sections ahead.

Part 3: Down in the Dumps
Navigate the sewer toward the surface. The first door you hit has a control wheel, so just use it normally. The second door is missing its wheel entirely. Look for it sitting on top of some nearby boxes, pick it up, and slot it into the mechanism. The door lifts only partway.
To cross the water section, switch your Grenade Launcher to the Pyro setting and blast the boxes blocking the far side. Craft a Grappling Gun on the other end, then hop onto the floating plank to swing across. This gets you into the keycard section.
Part 4: The Three Keycards
Investigate the Sewer Entrance/Exit Guide posted in the next room. It explains the three-key system that unlocks the door to the surface. Before you get into the puzzle, grab the Gunstock blueprint sitting in this same room.
Here's how each keycard works:

- Blue key: Take it from the control panel and use it on the closed door to the left. Craft a cube in the doorway before removing the key so the door stays open. Then use the Blue key on the water terminal to drain the level, and sprint to the lower door before the water refills.
- White key: Found in the room you just accessed. Craft a Grappling Gun to clear the blocked path, then use the White key on the terminal outside next to the Blue key terminal. Paimon will return the Blue key to you.
- Red key: Use the Blue key to open another bottom door, then climb the pipes to reach the Red key room. Defeat the enemies and collect it.
Bring all three keys back to the main terminal and use them together to open the primary door. Inside, examine the Leshy in the sealed tube to wake it. Defeat it to retrieve the control wheel from its head, then use the wheel to open the exit door and return to the surface.
Part 5: Back on One's Feet
Follow the girl to a locked house. Climb onto the roof and drop through the chimney to enter. Inside, boxes block the basement entrance. Use the Grenade Launcher on Pyro to clear them, then craft a Grappling Gun to open a hidden wall section. Pull the lever behind it to unlock the next door, then slide over the cube to pass under the low clearance exit.
Leave the cellar and regroup with the girl outside. On the way to the Assembly Hall, you'll encounter Furiosa. This fight doesn't require any special strategy. Keep shooting and she goes down without much resistance.
Part 6: Forbidding Doors of Melancholy
This section has the quest's most involved puzzle sequence. At the blocked door, investigate it and then examine the main door with the small hole. The girl slips through and opens it from the other side.
Inside, the platform puzzle works like this:
- Craft a Grappling Gun on the platform next to the girl to pull it toward you.
- Step onto the platform, then remove the Grappling Gun to ride it upward.
- Pull the wall lever. It won't trigger yet.
- Craft a Launching Platform to reach the higher platform above.
- Craft another Grappling Gun up there to pull the next platform in.
- Remove it again to move forward, then repeat the process to reach the opposite lever.

Once the main door opens, head downstairs. Before the giant wheel, craft a Grappling Gun on the left platform, then place a cube in the broken section of the wheel. Dismantling the Grappling Gun opens the door. Take the elevator up.
In the next room, collect three notes: two on the ground floor and one on the second floor. Picking up the third triggers the safety mechanism and spawns enemies. Protect the girl from range until she reaches you. Once she's safe, head back outside and escort her home.
Part 7: To Rest in a Forgotten Field
On the final stretch to the girl's home, Zala the Immortal Firebird blocks the path. This is a gun-based boss fight, same as the others in TPS mode. Keep your distance and keep shooting until Zala drops.
After the fight, you'll meet Aksinya, one of the central figures in Snezhnaya's World Quest chain. The scene concludes with you obtaining a piece of the Eye of Graeae, completing the quest.

What rewards do you get from In the Dwelling of Life?
The quest delivers two rewards that matter for long-term progression in Snezhnaya:
- One piece of the Eye of Graeae (required for further World Quest progression)
- The Gunstock blueprint (craftable weapon component found in Part 4)
These aren't optional pickups. The Eye of Graeae piece gates access to other major World Quests in the region, so finishing this quest is a prerequisite for much of what comes after.
For everything else happening in the current patch cycle, the Genshin Impact guides collection has walkthroughs for events, exploration, and character content running alongside 7.0.
