Graveyard Keeper 2 Guide: How to Fast Travel

Graveyard Keeper 2 replaces the first game's clunky Teleportstone with a proper Waypoint network scattered across the map. Walk up to any activated Waypoint, click it, and you can jump instantly to any other activated Waypoint you own. No loading screen delay, no time lost from the in-game clock. The catch is that each Waypoint costs Faith to unlock, and Faith is not something you can grind freely from the start.

important
Fast travel in Graveyard Keeper 2 is instant, meaning it does not consume any in-game time. If you are racing to complete a time-sensitive task, teleporting between Waypoints will not cost you a single hour on the clock.

How does fast travel actually work?

The system is straightforward once you understand the two-step process. First, you physically walk to a Waypoint on the map. Second, you spend Faith to activate it. Once two or more Waypoints are active, clicking any one of them opens the map and lets you select your destination.

You can carry items while fast travelling, including logs, large resources, and even zombies you are transporting for work assignments. That alone makes the system worth investing in early.

How do you get Faith in Graveyard Keeper 2?

Faith is the resource that powers Waypoint unlocks, and it comes from delivering sermons in the church. The church is not available from the start. To access it, you need to progress through the main story by completing quests for three specific characters:

  • The Merchant
  • Jack
  • The Twins

These quests revolve around crafting specific products and delivering them. None of them are timed, and they are hard to miss if you are following the main quest thread. Once you meet a nun through this chain, the church opens up and sermons become available.

Faith also funds research and Inspiration purchases for unlocking Perks, so plan your spending carefully. Blowing all your early Faith on distant Waypoints before you have the church running consistently is a mistake worth avoiding.

tip
Activate the village Waypoint as one of your first priorities. You will be making repeated trips to the Tavern to sell Burial Certificates and to the Merchant to trade crops and seeds. Cutting that walk down pays for itself within a single in-game day.

All Waypoint locations and Faith costs

Waypoints are spread across the full map, with several locked behind story progress. The ones in the north-east, near the town, require you to push back the undead horde through combat before you can even reach them.

Early Waypoints in the base area and village cost just 1 or 2 Faith each. The further from your starting zone, the higher the cost climbs, with remote locations like the swamp and castle area reaching up to 8 Faith per Waypoint.

What is the best order to unlock Waypoints?

After testing the route through the early game, the priority order that saves the most walking time looks like this:

  1. Home base Waypoint (1 Faith) - Your anchor point for everything else.
  2. Village Waypoint (1-2 Faith) - Connects you to the Tavern and the Merchant for selling and trading.
  3. Village and Town border Waypoint (2 Faith) - Bridges the gap as you push toward the town.
  4. Swamp and Castle area Waypoints - Hold off until you have a stable Faith income from regular sermons.

The first thing you should do when reaching any new area is locate and activate its Waypoint. You will almost always need to return to that location multiple times for NPC quests and merchant interactions, so activating on the first visit pays off immediately.

Why the Waypoint system beats the original Teleportstone

The original game's Teleportstone was a single-use item you purchased and consumed. The Waypoint network in Graveyard Keeper 2 is a permanent, reusable infrastructure you build out over time. The trade-off is that you have to earn access through Faith rather than just buying a stone at the Tavern.

The ability to carry bulky items like logs and zombies while fast travelling is a significant practical upgrade. In the original, hauling heavy loads across the map was a genuine time sink. Here, once your Waypoints are active, you can teleport with a full load and get back to work immediately.

Graveyard Keeper 2 is a deep adventure game with a lot of interlocking systems, and fast travel is one of the first you will want to master.

tip
You can carry logs, zombies, and other large items while using fast travel. This makes the Waypoint network especially useful for resource runs and zombie deployment tasks that would otherwise eat up significant walking time.
